Hi-

This is what I am faced with. I have bought a brand new HP 590-p0022 that came with a preloaded SSD and a physical 1 TB drive. The primary SSD must have Windows 7 put on it and it came with 10. I have booted the system from a 10 disk and deleted all partitions on the SSD. I have shut off secure boot and set it to boot from legacy. ( I have also unplugged the 1 TB data drive) The system boots from a 7 disk without problem until I make it to the installation screen. At this point I immediately lose all keyboard and mouse function. I do not believe it is a seize because I watch the caps lock button go off every time. I double checked the BIOS and all USB ports are on. At this point I have tried everything I know. Thanks = )

Hi Techbox,

Welcome to SevenForums!

At this point I immediately lose all keyboard and mouse function. I do not believe it is a seize because I watch the caps lock button go off every time. I double checked the BIOS and all USB ports are on. At this point I have tried everything I know.

I think that this is a drivers issue because the Win 7 installation DVD can't find the drivers that it needs for the install etc. You will probably need to integrate the drivers into the Drivers\Boot and Drivers\Install of the install.wim and create a new updated installation disk. That is of course, if the drivers are available for your computer specifications [MOBO etc].

Please do the below [well as much as you can until you get the OS installed] so we have more information in which to work with!

Update System Specifications

Please update your system specifications in your UserCP => Edit System Spec setup. It will help us to help you!

This SevenForums tutorial [Published by Brink and written by CyberZeus] makes this task very easy and quick to do. Click here => System Info - See Your System Specs.

I hope this helps!

The system is so new and out of the box I only know the general specs. I will pull the SSD to get the info, but I have never sewn drivers into a 7 boot disk before.

Hi Techbox,

What we need is the system specifications like the MOBO make and model, has it got USB3 [which is not natively supported in Win 7] etc!

HP's response:
The KB and mouse freeze because W7 does not have the required USB 3.1 drivers in order for those devices to work, and the USB 2 ports won't work until after the Intel chipset installation utility is installed.

Intel did not develop any W7 USB 3.1 drivers, so you have hit a brick wall with no solution.

Not necessarily!

We still need your system specifications! There could be a way around this as I have specified previously. See post #2.

Hi Techbox,

It appears that it is was formerly Coffee Lake so you would need NVMe and USB3 drivers.

You will need to put the drivers in the bootx64 and installx64 folders. Any drivers in the bootx64 folder will be included in the boot.wim. Any drivers in installx64 folder will be included in the install.wim. You will then need to create a new Win 7 installation disk for installation.

Read this thread => Update your Win 7 installation media.

I hope this helps!

It is a i5 system with 16gb of RAM and as I previously stated, a SSD which I see is a M.2 Sandisk and a 1 TB standard drive + a optical. It appears to have a pce 4 and a pce 16. It is a lincs 17514-1 . I am awaiting a response from HP (who said I was against the brick wall) to see if a PCe USB 2.0 or 3.0 would solve the problem

I ended up getting your system specifications from here => HP Pavilion 590-p0022 Desktop PC Product Specifications.

Have you read through the post Update your Win 7 installation media yet?

The basic issue here may be that you are running a processor that is not supported for use on Windows 7 - Intel decided to not support Windows 7 on some later CPU versions - Some users with certain hardware have succeeded with the installation but it is very hit and miss, Some motherboards can be made to work but a lot cannot

A note on Coffee Lake/H310 and Windows 7 : intel

Hi Techbox,

Gonna try this Paul, if it works you're my hero. The company that wants this tower specifically wants a new machine with 7 only and I have never encountered this before. I will report back.

OK, good luck!

CoffeeLake CPU and chipsets aren't compatible with Win 7 as the previous SkyLake and CabyLake.
On a CoffeeLake you don't have Win7 drivers for internal graphics and USB, so you wont have mouse & keyboard. You have to install a graphics and USB cards.
