I purchased an Adata XPG SX8200 pro 1tb m.2 ssd. After install into the m.2 slot the drive is listed in the BIOS as an NVME drive but in Windows 7 it shows in device manager as a "PCI device" and has the "!" next to it. Under properties it shows that Windows cannot find a driver for this hardware. Of course the Adata website is no help.

My existing boot drive is an nvme Intel 750 series ssd in a pcie slot. Therefore, I already have Windows 7 working fine on a nvme drive which means I had modified W7 2 years ago to get the Intel 750 to work. Since my Asrock Z270m pro 4 motherboard supports nvme drives and I already have one such drive working, I thought the new drive would work under W7.

I've searched for a generic Microsoft nvme driver with no success. Also, the new drive supports the newest NVME 1.3 verson while the Intel is a NVME 1.0 version drive. Any thoughts to try before I return this new drive as being incompatible? Thanks in advance!

SIW2, thank you and thank you again.

I had not been able to find those MS hotfixes because as you know MS has taken them down. After I installed them and restarted, I went into device manager and updated the driver for that "PCIe device" at which time it installed a "Standard NVM Express Controller" which is no doubt the MS nvme version. I then went into "disk managment" and initiated the Adata ssd. I can now use the new drive!

Thanks for responding with the hotfixes.

Thanks for this thread.
Installed the SX8200, formatted with Minitool Partition Wizard.

Installed the hotfixes, rebooted, went to Windows 7 disk management, added a drive letter. All good to go.

More likely you will get answer on thread you posted on at winraid forum.

I am assuming you must have already installed the two MS nvme hotfixes?

SSD not being detected in Win 7 - [Solved] - Storage

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread but had to say thank you! Just got this drive today and ADATA's toolkit was bugging me, saying all sorts of crazy things like 1.21 Jigawatts and the life of drive is low, this fixed it right up, thank you so much chap!
