Solved how to (offline) update W7 (2016 convenience rollup already installed)

Hi ADC,

After 2 DISM++ passes, I loaded WU and it found some updates, and 2 new drivers for my LAN and video. Since I'm using (for now) only the native drivers, is it recommended to update them too?

And as a side note, after the updates, Windows loading became considerably slower than before, but I think it was expected.

[1] If the LAN and Video drivers are on board, you could check the manufacturers website for the latest drivers.

[2] Yes, that is expected because the number of updates installed are considerable, and once extracted and installed the amount of storage used does increase quite a lot. As you use the computer your OS might settle down to a certain extent.

What you can do is to run Disk Cleanup : Extended => Disk Cleanup : Extended.

This will clean up and get rid of the leftovers from WU [Windows Update]. Check everything!

I hope this helps!

Hi, Paul. Thanks for the Disk Cleanup tip.

The problem with the drivers is: I already have the most up-to-date drivers from the manufacturers websites (Intel and Realtek) In the video driver case, it's not signed, and I can't force Windows to bypass the signature check. The "test mode" procedure doesn't work for me and I'm not willing to use a third party app to do it (I've searched Google and most of the tips tell to use a specific app). Therefore, I can't use the updated video driver nor the Intel screen config app. Only way is to hit F8 at every boot and disable the verifying routine.

I was planning to make a thread here about it in the respective section but if you have any tip it would be cool too. :-)
