First w7u64 update tried to install it, 4x, and failed each time, then via windows6.1-kb4523206-x64.msu file from win update catalog it says "Security Update for Windows (KB4523206) is already installed on this computer".
What should one make of that? First the sys recognizes it is needed, then that it is not. On which side is the error? What am I missing?

Thank you for your help in advance!
:)

Hello @svnfrms2r, :-)

Does your Windows Update history show KB4523206 has being successfully installed?

Windows Update - View Update History Details

After restart, it still shows 4x as failed in the "Update History".

However, it shows in "Installed Updates", where it also does not show an uninstall option upon right click.

The cmd line uninstall informs it is required and cannot be uninstalled (hopefully no shady stuff hidden in it).

And when running the file now to see if the error message changed, it now says: "Security Update for Windows (KB4523206) is already installed on this computer".

I guess this was meant to be an exercise in finding different ways to check if an update installed indeed or not ;)

Restarting now...to see if it changes again...

Your middle screenshot of "Installed Updates" shows it as successfully installed, so it appears to be with those 4 previous failed attempts.

Can that be fixed so that the newest of the 4 failure entries is turned into a successful one?

It installed all three of them (and offered all of them at some point) in my case and it works since then.
