Solved A problem with reinstalling the OS on a Sony PCG-7142L

This problem is on a Sony laptop model PCG-7142L, OS Win 7 Home 32bit.
Last Sunday I had to go to Kadlec ER and they in turn admitted me to the hospital. I had the Sony laptop in my backpack just in case for something to do.

At that point on Sunday afternoon the laptop was working 100% fine. I wanted to play a game on the laptop. I got an error message saying a certain DLL file that is needed to play the game is missing. I went on the hospitals public WI-FI connection to find said DLL file. While I was looking for the file, I got hit by a web page from USA today's web site. Since then the laptop has been acting funky. In Firefox, IE, Wordpad Notepad, the run command. I see continuous string of (U)'s. It just keeps going. The U, H, + and other keys don't work now. I tried wiping the hard drive partition clean and reinstalling Win 7 Home. The install got to the point of the 1st Win restart. Now Windows 7 keeps booting into "Advanced Boot Options" instead of going on with the install. And I can't get back into the laptop's bios now. The laptop just boots direct to the Win "Advanced Boot Options".
I think the laptop got infected somehow while I was connected to the Hospital's public WI-FI. I am now at home and I am on my main Dell computer. I need the Sony laptop working by Feb for RadCon, a sci-fi and fantasy convention that I go to each year. Anyone have any ideas?

How did you re-install Windows? Did you use the recovery partition?

No I set the optical drive as the #1 drive in the boot order. I have a prog on a cd called "Super (F) Disk" that wipes out the MBR, then I just stick in to the optical drive the Win 7 32bit bootable disk and start installing. Normally the install goes fine. Except for this time when Win 7 gets to the 1st reboot during the install. Win auto goes into "Advanced Boot Options" the F8 option to get at safe mode. Also when I hit F2 to get into the laptop's bios the laptop says "entering setup" then the screen goes blank and reboots to the "Advanced Boot Options" menu, unless I hit F2 again. Then I get into the laptop's bios. I have never run across this problem before.

I finely solved the problem with the Sony laptop. Somewhere, somehow, I don't know. Something heavy and wet got set down on the Sony's internal keyboard at the hospital. The internal keyboard is damaged, the J, U, Esc and the F8 don't work right and the keyboard has to be replaced. I used a keyboard testing prog to find out. The internal touch pad still works fine and the laptop responds just fine to my Logitech combo wireless keyboard/mouse. So I will still be able to use the Sony laptop at Radcon. I will just have to buy one of those Ihome wireless keyboard/mouse setups from Big-Lots. The Ihome stuff doesn't last as long as the Logitech stuff. But it will last long enough until I can replace the internal keyboard.

You should replace or disconnect the keyboard flat cable from the MB as damaged keyboard can conflict with the external keyboard
