MS releases SP2 for Windows 7

I saw a command line install option for IE11 but not for.NET Framework. Does .NET Framework get installed when just clicking the UpdatePack.exe to install?

Read my last post, I did an edition

Did as you suggested. System performed a reboot probably thrice.

Got all .net frameworks +4 installed, replaced the x2 ones.

Some Windows security updates too, in total approx 36.

I feel it's far simpler, less time consuming vs the WSUS offline app.

Thanks.

I have the UpdatePack with the patch and plan on doing the update tomorrow.

It's very simple made, just do as recommended by Megahertz

Run the update exe and rest it shall do...

I'd recommend running it again once done, in my case it missed or 1 update was left...

Whole process takes less than 45 minutes.

Good luck!

Regards.

It doesn't include NetFrame 4xx because that is an optional update for win 7.

You can put the .wa next to updatepack7r2 and it will pick it up.
Release v2019.12.10 . abbodi1406/dotNetFx4xW7A . GitHub
languagepack for NF4.8
Release v2019.04.13 . abbodi1406/dotNetFx4xW7A . GitHub

Or you can get NF4 from windows update afterwards

Thanks for the help here, a really big THANKS. I needed it, it puts a bit of shine back on what I'm calling "The Cursed Build".

As an alternative, I downloaded the main file in a couple of minutes from here: Download Simplix UpdatePack 7 - MajorGeeks

My suggestion is to set Services - Windows Update - Manual and on WU page set it to Never check.
Then run UpdatePack7R2 to download an up to date Simplix file.
Simplix is a single file (880MB) that contain all updates since Win 7 released up to date. It has all security and non security updates without the trash (telemetry and tracking). Very good.
Then run WU manually to find updates for Office etc and decide witch one to install.

To uninstall the telemetry, run cmd file to uninstall those KB files.
kb_spy.cmd.txt
Rename it as KB_Spy.cmd and run it.

Thanks, I plan on following your advice to the letter. I take it any updates already installed won't be an issue? Before I found this post I installed what's called "Service Pack 2" and updated the framework to 4.8. My install disk came with SP1.

After seeing what legit copies of Win7 were going for these days, I thought I'd check out Win10 to see if several old programs I need would run. During the install I started shaking my head. Besides talking down to you, they ask if they could spy on virtually your every action. I half expected them to ask for my social security number and if they could install a keylogger. One of my programs wouldn't run so that was that and I formatted the drive. Then shelled out $170 for Win7. Ouch.

One of the hardest parts of this build was finding a decent PSU. I had one explode on me before, throwing fireworks out the back of my comp so I'm picky about them. After doing a lot of research I decided on an EVGA G3 with all Japanese capacitors. Most places like Newegg were out but Office Depot had them in stock at a decent price. A week later with no tracking number I found out that they get them from a "partner" who was out. I cancelled and found slightly lower quality EVGA in stock at Tiger Direct. Decent price also until I checked out and saw the $30+ shipping for regular ground service. I despise that tactic but needed this final part so I bit the bullet. Same thing as Office Depot, a week later they tell me their partner is out. I was getting desperate and checked Walmart. To my surprise they had a partner with a G3 in stock so I grabbed it. The price was about $40 too high but it had free shipping. I went to check out and see that it is a Canadian company. At that point I just started laughing and went for it. I have nothing against Canada, I just figured that I wouldn't see it for a month. It came in a week and a half later in good shape in spite of very minimal packaging. Whew. I found out that high tariffs on China are the likely reason for PSU shortages, rebranders like EVGA are trying to find companies to make the components that aren't subject to them.

.

You've got me intrigued - there are VERY few programs that run on Win 7 that won't run on 10! - I even routinely use a program that was designed for Win9x in Win10 without any problems.

Any chance you could tell us what the offender was?
