I never have got the webcam to work

Hello!




this is a HP EliteBook 2760p


i remember seeing the webcam working VERY FEW times and very randomly, in the whole time i have with this laptop (more than 6 years) i probably have used the webcam 4 or 5 times.


i have the latest driver, i have uninstalled, installed, windows updates and nothing.


in case i could get it working back again... it usually does not last long, then freezes and then goes black.

What program you use that requires a webcam?

I would start with the basic:

- Run a disk check. Open a CMD window as administrator and type:
chkdsk c: /f
It will say your disk is in use and if you want to schedule to next start = Yes
Restart.

Back to windows, Open a CMD window as administrator and type:
sfc /scannow

skype, facebook, video capturers, i did all that, and also a defragmentation.

The camera should be under Imaging Devices.
Do you see any yellow alerts of missing driver?

if that driver is sonix, try version 6 0 1114 4 dated july 2015.

thats the latest on my hp eb8470p.

i tried using your laptop model and i found another driver, and the version number you mention [version 6 0 1114 4] i cant find anything, could you please verify?

Its interesting, I setup this lappy in December with a base W7 SP1 Iso, i did not have to download any drivers for the camera, the WU system must have upgraded the version as the one on the HP site is older
Do you have updates set to include drivers???

Note
your Camera might be able to be "removed" and "reinstalled" in your Bios - it does in mine
(the device manager entry will not show it as present)

So i would try to remove it in bios REboot, then reinstall reboot, check device manager.
this might also reset the device and clear-up any problems

just the way HP want to describe it !!!

so what driver is installed - i know mines been updated as Roll back is available.

have you got any other non-working drivers??

as a last resort can you run the tool from here, ignore the title it provides a great deal of info

thats the base MS generic driver!!!

hit the update driver option, it should give you the same as mine

if not update again but select browse my computer then use the let me pick option
UNTICK show compatible hardware

scroll to sonix >>then in right hand box select hpcam fixed

then check which driver has been installed if its snic lower than 1114 update normally again
