I believe you might be able to do it with Resource Tuner.

Resource Tuner: Resource Editor for EXE and DLL Resource Files. Edit Icon Resources, Replace Strings, Change Bitmaps.

Thanks sergio, isnt that one a 30 day trial aswell. Is there not one that doesn't have a trial. As in completely free, lol.

Thought I would mention that the person has an all glass theme going on...

You can see this by looking at the minimize button of the gadgets window...even with focus it is transparent

If you look closely, perhaps the only "sticky thing" is sellotape.

i changed my start button with one i found a few pages back, but when i use a lighter theme i get a black circle around it:

i saw some others buttons on lighter themes and it don't have this black thing..

how can i make that black "background" go away ?!

You would copy the image that you replaced in the the windows file into the likes of photoshop,then delete the black away from the picture or make it transparent then redo the change start up icon tutorial. i.e rename the file original file back to explorer,rename the current "explorer" file to "delete explorer",kill explorer.exe,start it,delete the "kill explorer file" and start the tutorial from the beginning.

it seems that the .bmp file that i downloaded wasn't made in the right way, i try it again with the original one from here: http://www.sevenforums.com/customization/23935-official-sevenforums-theme.html, and everything is just fine now...

i will post my a screenshot of my desktop pretty soon

I am not familar with that theme, but the files should be .cur, if i remember correctly, if you right click on the folder or file, you may see a install or merge at the top of the list.

You could also add them to your cursor folder in C:\Windows \Cursor, once you have done that, go to personlise on your desktop, on the lefthand side, you will see Change Mouse Pointer, go into browser and select folder or file.

I think this is what your looking for.
Copy image>open paint>paste>drag backround in until it fits>save as BMP file.
Then its ready.
