Hi, System file corruptions are fixed by sfa scannow command.
If there is no integrity violations, then it is ok.
But if we get, windows found corrupted files, it is always with the message , that windows cannot repair those files and the log could be found in the cbs.log message
It is always the case.
Either we have to sort ouot the issue by installing files from install disk or repair or reinstall windows.
But i found faulty modeules app crash and I just applied the sfc scannow command
But , i get windows found some corrupted files, but this time with the continuing message that the corruption is fixed messag
is this possible
have any of the members have got this fixed message in the scan results itself
this is the first time i got it fixed with the scan itself.
Moreover tha app crash has gone and the gadget now appeared on the desktop
could somebody through light on this

SFC /scannow repairs the sytem by copying fresh copies of corrupt files from the component store. You get this message if the component store is also corrupt. See the notes in Option Two of this tutorial for a number of ways to fix this, in particular...

... download and run the 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) System Update Readiness Tool for your same installed 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 7, restart the PC afterwards, and try the sfc /scannow command again.

is it in winsxs folder or somewhere else.
normally i get the other alert of windows found corrupt files but could not repair them.
Elsewhere i remember reading that it only scans and one has to copy files from system files from installation disk.
Thanks for sharing that it also fixes if such files are clean in the store.

Yes, it is WinSxS, if that is corrupt too then SFC cannot do its job. But you must not try to modify that yourself, only use the tools provided by Microsoft such as the System Update Readiness tool, link in my earlier post.


The alternative fix is the repair install that Megahert07 suggested.

Hi, Re scan did not find any integrity issue..
Far academic sake, can i find, which file or core of files were corrupt.
find str string command fetches a blank sfcdetails.txt.
One more question: is that the reason for winsxs folder becoming larger size during course of time of using.
another sub query: is the integrity being checked only on the files on the installation stage or it inclludes windows update that we get during the usage of the system
I heard somewhere, that winsxs contain previous version of the same files

Forty years of repairing PC's tells me that the best fix for an ailing OS, is to just replace it.


About once a year, I have to do that myself. For that occasion, it pays to have a clean backup copy of my C: drive, safely tucked away on a backup drive.

All my data files get backed up at least weekly, and my entire C: drive also gets backed up weekly. Once a month I do a CLONE of my main drive, an SSD, to a 2TB Spinner.


No way in heck, do I ever have to fix a problem OS. If it goes wonky, I just replace it.

Backup solutions have been around for over 40 years, yet so many act as though they've never heard of it.:confused:

Hi, Techno, please let me know, which storage you use to back up. is it external hard drive. Which is most reliable storage. Pen drive and sometimes even ext. hdd gets corrupted. Imagine to think of gbs of data loss.
please give me a clue about your device. If tb storage ext. hdd gets corrupted there is no way to retrieve the data.
let me know the storage media that you use with the brand name

Yes, any backup media can become corrupted, or just plain STOP working.
I've been at this stuff for over 40 years and I'm more than familiar with that story.


For that very reason, I make multiple backups on multiple devices.
For my Data backups I use a 128GB Flash Drive, a 1TB USB drive and an 8TB full size Internal HD (only connected during the backup process.
Then I do a clone of my SSD (main drive) to a 2TB internal HD.


About once a week, I make a compressed backup copy of my C: drive to my 1TB USB drive, and to my 8TB internal (Seagate) HD.


The software I use for all my Backups, is a program written in New Zealand, back in 1997.
Symantec bought the program, made several additions to it and finally abandoned it, several years ago.
It's still available in the WWW domain, for those willing to look for it. The name of the program is,
"Ghost". I use version 11.5, the last version that boots to DOS. I can boot it from a CD, Flash Drive, or even an SD Memory Card. It does not run in Windows, and does not care what it's backing up. It will copy files from Windows, Linux, Unix, Server, or just a data disk with no OS on it at all.
