The mouse wasn't working suddenly so a friend did something to make it work, but now there is a red x on the taskbar network icon and when I troubleshoot automatically it says "A network cable is unplugged or may be broken". So needless to say, no WiFi. Computer is Halian x5.

What I've tried so far...

1) Update driver automatically.

2) Uninstall driver (from device manager) and scan for hardware changes to reinstall.

3) #2 above plus delete the driver file (so now I can't reinstall - thanks to this guide :/

4) Restore system to previous time.

5) logged in in safe mode with networking. Still same problem.

6) Booted from a live usb in to Ubuntu (Linux). Wifi is still disabled.

What can I do now to fix this?

Much much appreciate any point in the right direction!

I was gonna add that in the post. No it doesn't. It's a desktop (just a screen). No wifi on/off key in the keyboard.
