I actually use Open Office at home and I have used it with MS Office apps. I'll be honest though, I don't have too much of a need. I can always just use my work laptop if it becomes necessary.
I used to work for a company that offered the Microsoft Home Use Program and we got Office 2007 for $20...and even then I didn't feel it was worth spending $20 on for home use. I guess I just don't like buying things that I don't have a solid need for.
