Office 2010 Public Beta Available on Technet/MSDN

I actually use Open Office at home and I have used it with MS Office apps. I'll be honest though, I don't have too much of a need. I can always just use my work laptop if it becomes necessary.

I used to work for a company that offered the Microsoft Home Use Program and we got Office 2007 for $20...and even then I didn't feel it was worth spending $20 on for home use. I guess I just don't like buying things that I don't have a solid need for.

All I can say is that I recently received notification from Microsoft that they were closing my outstanding feedback item and I should try to reproduce the issue with the Beta1 build - that would suggest that the beta should be here sooner rather than later

Any idea when on technet -

I just don't fancy installing a humungous load of OFFICE 2007 fixes on around 12 - 15 machines if office 2010 is coming out soon. I'd like to test it before deploying it of course.

I can't use a "server" deploy for the workstation office 2007 upgrades- I have to install them all manually on each workstation - don't ask why - it's "political" - non technical management making technical decisions again - still THEY get the bill for my overtime .

Hi Jimbo - Beta1 is due in the next few weeks - the fact it's being stated as beta1 would suggest to me that we are looking at more than 1 so GA of 2010 would not be before Q2 2010.

As for your roll out you may want to suggest the click to run format for your non technical directors.

Mine expires around the same tine but I will renew mine, it's too good a deal not to.

I plan to face the west and pray to the Gods of TechNet every Sunday morning from now until June 7, 2010. May do same on Wednesday evening too, just for added "points" with the Gods.

I received the invitation for the Technical Preview and have been using it up to this point. But in the mean time I've bought a new PC. I thought I read that O2010 will come out in the 64bit version.

Was this version available in the Technical Preview and if so what is your opinion of that build?

As I have already stated in this thread I would expect the public Beta release of Office 2010 in the next week or so I have been running the official Preview of the Click to run distribution for a few months now and Microsoft has just closed open tickets with the instruction to try to duplicate the issues in the beta.

As for the 64/32 bit the 64 bit will install onto a clean 64bit OS However if like me you are running Office 2007 which is 32bit the 32 bit will be installed (in parallel with Office 2007).

Now here's a question for you... I will be in a remote location for the next 2 weeks without internet... If the beta comes out say, next week... How long is it usually available for download?
