Hi, i've seen that its a common problem but i couldn't find a solution to it. Only Windows media player plays the videos well. others just give very poor quality.
i installed Latest versions of Nvidia Driver, and then tried Old version as Well. I even tried Vista drivers, but Nothing Worked. What could be the Solution? It's Driving me nuts, Because Most of the Time I watch Videos..

Have you also tried installing/updating your video codecs? I use the Shark007 pack.

Another good codec package is Media.Player.Codec.Pack.V3.3.1.Setup. Both are install on my OS. Go back to the most up to date Nvidia driver 191.07 or the 195 beta. Once you have it installed then check to see if the Nvidia Control Panel was also installed. If So then go into the Nvidia Control Panel to check to see if everything is set the way you want for your monitor. Hope this helps, and good luck. :)

Almost forgot; have you gone into the "Screen Resolution" then click on Advanced settings to see if your video card has a control panel. Just a thought.

Lee, PLEASE stop recommending that users should submit thier systems to codec hell just because you are there and don't even know it. Your lack of knowledge of anything codec related is completely astounding. Worse yet, you're inability to solve playback issues in an informed manner is prevelent with your recommendation of installing something as archaic as "Media.Player.Codec.Pack.V3.3.1" which installs 179 OLD VERSION files to the users system32 directory of which 85% have been already installed with current versions by the Win7codecs into private pathing where they belong.
Several files of your recommended installation are PROVEN to crash Windows 7 systems!

no its not a codec problem. um 100% sure of that cause i've tried all codecs. i found a solution though. it seems like that whenever aero theme is on in win7, the videos dont play as good. if i switch to basic, the video plays well. what is the problem with it?

My post wasnt personal... but hey ... as you wish it ....

I'm sorry that you wish to push your lack of codec related knowledge further out into the light. So be it. Exactly how do you expect codecs as old as 11 YEARS to work properly on Windows 7? Attached is a sample pic of the codecs you suggest people install.

Once again I ask,
please do not suggest that people destroy thier systems with this crap.
We all have our areas of expertise, codecs is obviously, NOT yours.

I have noticed this problem before and on xp as well. If you use vlc they released an update recently that was supposed to fix a degradation of video quality in W7 compared to earlier windows platforms. The other explaination I have been able to find for this happening is to do with deinterlacing the video. In VLC for example you can go to Video|Deinterlace| and set different deinterlace methods and you will likely notice an improvement.
The reaosn WMP doesnt seem to have this problem is NVIDIA has PureVideo decoders, that i believe now come with their drivers. They integrate with wmp and wmp only it seems and they provide hardware based deinterlacing of the video.

I get awesome video quality with Media Player Classic Home Cinema and Shark007's Win7 codecs. Does require a little tweaking to get the best from it, however.

If you prefer an easier all in one solution, I recommend the free KM Player over VLC.
