Belkin F56050 wireless adapter not working

I have read through the prevous posts on the other belkin wireless adapters and followed those steps to try and get my wireless to work. i was not able to do so. So, like anyother person who gets frustated, i looked to buy a new one. The thing is i really dont want to. Right now to get on the internet i am using my Cell phone conected through a usb port. I bought win7 last night. i have looked high and low for a solid answer on a wireless usb that will work. First can anyone solve my problem? Or if not, pleaase tell me one that will work from Wal-mart!

Steps when i inst win7

Downloaded win
created a fresh start
HOWEVER i can still run XP and there is a folder with all of my old windows xp files

They quit supporting your device with XP which you can try to install the drivers in compatibility mode http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/316-compatibility-mode.html The other thing is their are several revisions which you need to know which one you have and can find out how here Belkin : Support : F5D6050 802.11b Wireless USB Network Adapter - Drivers. If you can't install in compatibility mode. Do a search for windows seven compatible 802.11b wireless hubs. Or i don't know why ou would want to stay with a b when a g is a better hub. Fabe

Cross your fingers and hope running the driver in Windows XP Service Pack 2 mode works...

For your other question...I would recommend any linksys hub out there as I have never had any issues with their products

okay for some odd reason, DLing V2xxx then telling it to be compatible with vista SP2, aloud win7 to recognise the Driver. However, i have ran into another problem. How do i get windows 7 to tell my wireless usb to search for local networks? I have never used vista so finding things on Win7 is new to me. I just want the wireless to find my network.

The driver worked...that is fantastic!

Do you have an icon near the System-Clock that has 5 bars with either a red x or a yellow caution sign over it? Click on this icon and choose a wireless network available

It is not there. That was my first guess was to check there and to scan for my network. I know my comp and win 7 sees it, it just will not let me find a network. Take a look at this

I dont know how i feel about win7 yet. I started playing around with the settings then, POOF! i was on the internet! I think it had something to do with changing my "home location" to "network" under the network connections display. Still, there is not an icon in my task bar telling me the signal strength. I hope I am connected to my network! Can anyone tell me and easy way to see what network i am connected to? Cause i am getting lost.

Open Network and Sharing Center

Start -> Type in "Network and Sharing Center" -> Look at what network it is connected too

So i had to restart to get some updates now it will not connect again. I have never had this much trouble with anything!!!!!!!!!!

I have no idea why it only works when the adapter is in "bridged" mode...lets just hope it isn't a fluke and keeps running as it is right now

Hello guys,

hope you can help me - finally bought my new laptop and trying to install everything, but have the same issue with the Belkin adapter

I tried the way described here - downloaded the f5d6050z.exe, clicked on "Run this program in compability mode for Windows Vista SP2" and ran the installation numerous times but nothing changes - when I plug the adapter in, a msg pops up that no drivers could be find

Do I miss something? I've been using it for couple of years and am extremely happy with it and wouldn't want to buy a new one.

I am using Windows 7 Pro x64.

Any tips would be appreciated!!

Hi Gracy, it looks like your chipset doesnt have any drivers straight from the manufacturor (Atmel) but a couple of things to try:

1. did you try installing in copatibility mode BEFORE you tried to install them as normal (not compatibility)? if not do a system restore to a point before the first installation (dont ask me why but it works about 80% of the time)

2. if this didnt work, try doing a system restore to before you tried installing it and try it as Vista (No SP)

3. finally if this doesnt work, try doing another system restore to before you did anything to it, and try installing the driver manually through device manager,

normally i would be more help, but your adapter seems to be one of the few belkin ones which dont have ralinki chipsets, so im sorry this is the best i can do

No, all attempts to install in compatibility mode were made after I first tried directly. I tried to uninstall before each attempt, even delete any Belkin key from the registry but it didn't make a difference.

I would try to avoid restoring the system, as I installed and set so much after that which if there is a way I'd like to keep.

I was also thinking if there is no way to choose a certain driver from the list? I noticed this was the solution to another belkin adapter installation issue...
I guess when you say it does not have ralinki chipset this is not possible?

well the reason i mentioned ralink is because this is the chipset i have and the one i normally talk people through (which is what prompted me to look at your post)

the reason i mentioned system restore is because i wasnt sure of your level of expertise and quite frankly its an easy way to remove registry entries, what you did will do the same thing assuming you got all the keys

but you can try doing it directly from device manager, clean out your registry, restart, and then

1) click control panel>hardware and sound>device manager
2) right click the adapter in the device manager and click update driver software
3) click browse my computer for driver software, then let me choose from a list
4) click have disk
5) navigate to the folder where the driver is (probably under C:\Belkin or C:\Program Files (X86)\Belkin if it botched the install, failing that extract it straight from the driver installation file using 7zip http://www.7-zip.org
6) select your device from the list and click next next etc. and then restart
