Motherboard: Access Denied

Yesterday, my motherboard network adapter stopped working. Shows a red "X" in the system tray like when the cable is disconnected. Unfortunately I don't have any system restore points to go back to - I had disabled it due to disk space issues. The day before (the 19th), my system tray network icon had showed the yellow triangle for poor connectivity but I had not had any issues actually browsing the internet - not sure if it was an omen but thought I'd mention it if the information helps. I had installed some Windows updates on the 19th and I uninstalled all of them to see if they had caused the problem. Nothing else was installed on the 19th. On the 20th I had zero connectivity (red "X").

I have a dual boot system (XP on a second drive) and everything works fine on XP (from where I am posting this). My setup is a cable coming from my modem to a router and then splitting from the router to my wife's and my PC. This has worked fine until yesterday. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the motherboard ethernet adapter and uninstalled and reinstalled the driver. Still no connection on Windows 7.

One thing I noticed is that the 1394 adapter shows in device manager on XP but not on Win 7. I can't figure how to get it to show and I don't recall if I ever saw it on Win 7 device manager. PS - Solution mentioned by Slitherine here No Internet connection - dual boot Windows 7 and XP did not work for me.

PPS - On troubleshooting I get "windows couldn't automatically bind the ip protocol stack to the network adapter".

PPPS - Windows couldn't automatically bind the IP protocol stack to the - Microsoft Community Tried all of MS suggested steps except last one (I don't know what a GUID is). Tonight, I'll try cretaceousfiligree's post on that thread and see what happens.

PPPPS - Cretaceousfiligree's fix (mentioned above) worked. All good now.

Hello and welcome 1dog mate first up some system specs please it is very hard to work with something you don't anything about System Info - See Your System Specs you can pot them here but the best way is to update your profile.

Now I am interested in what the mobo is because of finding drivers for it and the network card if you have problems finding anything out about the components please see this - PART B:
Using HW Info
PART A:
You can test the volts on the PSU with HW Info HWiNFO, HWiNFO32/64 - Download < download the right bit version and close the right hand window select Sensors and scroll down to the power section where you will see what the volts are doing see my pic. In my pic the section (Nuvoton) with VBATT is a dead give away you are in the section for the rail voltages. There are other section titles and one that pops up often is ITE
Now the voltage on the different rails have to be within 5% =+/- of what is required or the machine will not work properly if at all.
IE
12v = 11.4v min to 12.6max
5v = 4.75v min 5.25v max
3.3v = 3.135v min to 3.465v max
See this for the rail voltage info
PSUs 101: A Detailed Look Into Power Supplies (Section 2.)
The original right hand window shows the machine running and is handy for that but for looking at the components in some detail close it and use the main left hand side panel
FOR OTHER COMPONENTS
PART B:
see pic for an example
