hi, all! I'm new here, I just found you on google!

I'm having a problem. I want to get rid of a icon on my notification area. the program has been unistalled, I deleted every single file I found of that program, but the icon didn't disappear.

I tried this solution:

blablabla...

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\TrayNotify

In the right pane, highlight both IconStreams and PastIconsStream.

...blablabla.

but IconStreams and PastIconsStream are not there. and I tried with the find... that entries are not in my registry. :(

what can I do?

Try to right click on Notif bar Go to properties Go to Notification and then uncheck. Hope this works

I had a similar situation yesterday trying to completely get rid of a program.

Here is what I did:

Reinstalled the program.

Went to revouninstaller.com and installed that program.

Used revo uninstaller to uninstall the program again. There is a choice in revo where you can have it dig into the registry for all remaining entries. I let it do that and I have no sign of it anymore.

I tried that, but the icon didn't go away. so, I uninstalled revouninstaller and now the icon of revo is on the notification area and won't go! haha!

Hello Suri, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Resetting the notification area icons may be able to sort this for you. It's important for it to be done step by step or it will not work though.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

After any uninstall, I also type regedit in start search box, right click Run as Adminstrator (if you need it), then check the Software keys in HKEY_CURRENT_USER and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE .

If there is any remaining registry key from the uninstalled program and you have no other programs by that name, then you are safe to rightclick Delete that named key.

Always set a restore point before editing Registry.
