there are a couple of files and folders and documents that Id like to protect. I know I can change the permission to just admin but sometimes I leave my rig running and Id like to know that these files cant be accessed while Im away.
any suggestions? Id like just to have to enter a password before said files are opened

An asy way is to use one of the 3rd party apps. There are quite a few. This is one that is easy to use and free. Password Protect Files

Good Luck

Use Winrar on them and then delete the originals (or "wipe" them.)

Winrar can set passwords when creating a rar file.

If you want to get serious, use Truecrypt.

Edit - haha morning Ken.

Alternatively, use a USB memory stick to have these files/folders on. Simply unplug and take with you when you leave your machine.
