First off, If the only answer you have is "No, to get DX12 you must get win 10", kindly leave. I already know that.

There's a program for Windows 98 that allows its user to install programs that weren't made for it, like a compatibility option that allows choosing Os.s released after it. Since there is a similar program for 2000 and XP, I wonder if there is a similar option that makes .msi's and other windows 10 exclusive installers think that windows 7 is windows 10, Or something similar.

Bottom line. Is there something of this ilk for our 7?

I appreciate any future constructive answers.

I'm sure someone else will jump in here but, to my knowledge (I'm not an expert), every version of Windows lets you choose a compatibility mode for software but it's for the version of Windows either installed or earlier. Never heard it being able to set a compatability mode for a OS later than the one installed.

This statement precludes the possibility that there isn't a way to get what you want. It is extremely difficult for software to work on an earlier version of windows than it was designed for, especially second party software that runs so deeply in the OS as does DirectX. You would basically have to reprogram it. Now since you've asked me to leave I will.

Thank you for leaving. Although you seem knowledgeable of the intricacies of DirectX, you fail to recognize the second part of my post, where I clearly state that someone has created a way to have programs not designed for a certain version of Windows. The program is called KernelEx, and it works as a compatiblity layer for windows 9x. It is somewhat possible to install Directx 11 on WinME with this program. All I was wondering was if ANYONE knows of a similar program for windows 7.

Just because it's hard, doesn't mean someone hasn't done it. Besides, compatibility is probably easier than you think, considering Blizzard got M$ to do it for their game. Maybe it only works if you have a lotta money in the bank. Hmm...
