Okay, so friday night, I finished building a computer
Core i5 750
ASRock P55m Pro
2x2 GB G. Skill Ripjaw DDR3 1333
WD Caviar Black 640 GB
When I first booted up my computer, I clean installed Windows 7 Ultimate from a genuine upgrade disc I got from school. However, I realized that the key code only worked for upgrades, and not new installations. (I WAS SOO STUPID.. IF I KNEW ABOUT THE DOUBLE INSTALLATION THING NONE OF THIS WOULD BE HAPPENING) So, I grabbed a copy of a volume licensed XP from school and installed, formatting the Windows 7 partition, thinking that the upgrade would work once I had a licensed version of windows to build off of.
However, EVERY SINGLE TIME I get the the "expanding files" stage of windows 7 installation now, error 0x80070570 comes up, telling me that a file is missing or corrupted. I have searched nearly every thread on this forum, trying everything from reseating RAM, to resetting the CMOS, to checking the hard drives, to even borrowing another installation disc from a friend.
But NOTHING WORKS....
Someone please please help me. I am sooo frustrated. Especially since I had 7 running previously, but I formatted the hard drive....
Thanks in advance. Any help would be appreciated. Please don't refer me to another thread on this forum, I have read nearly all of them.
Also, as a note, I tried upgrading to Vista with another disc I got from school, however that installation failed during the copying phase and I got almost the exact same message.
EDIT: My problem has been FIXED!!!!!!
The cause was a stick of RAM that was DOA.
