Hey guys been running win 7 virtually flawlessly since the beta phases. I got a cooling pad for my laptop yesterday and I noticed when the computer is in standby the cooling pad will stay on, but the USB mouse receiver will turn off. I have already tried to find a solution through the device manager but this was already checked

Its really annoying to have to unplug it whenever I put my lappy into standby.

Hello, Welcome to the Forums!:party:
Try going into advanced power options and setting the USB settings. You probably already know how, but I have included a screenshot.

Make sure the USB suspend setting is set to Enabled.

Thanks for the suggestion man, but I toggled between the two and neither of them had a different effect (mouse receiver still powered off, chill matt remained on). Could be a driver microsoft needs to look into...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but power should be supplied to the USB ports even when the computer is in sleep. For example, imagine a USB keyboard and mouse. What would happen if they had no power when the computer was sleeping? How would you wake it up?
Here is where I'm going: I doubt there is a way to turn off the USB ports, that would not cause undesirable effects.

Agreed, Its not a microsoft issue. how about just unplugging the cool pad when you put it into standby?

Well, it would be nice if you were able to do that through the device manager but I guess thats what i'll do? It really doesnt make sense to have the cooling pad running for 6 hrs straight lol...

Totally agree. Although when you think about it, how would you do it if you were Microsoft? The power still needs to be on for the keyboard. You would have to set each individual port, and make sure to plug the pad into the same one every time.

Yes, every port would have to be mapped and the (USB) inference in the device manager more clearly written. Hell maybe in Win 7.1!

^^
I think they should continue with "seven" because this is M$'s best OS
