Computer keeps "waking up" after going to sleep

I'm using HP Pavilion dv9000 notebook, and these are my power settings:


The problem is that after my computer screen is turned off when I'm away, every now and then it turns on again.
My computer is open all the time, and it bothers me especially when I go to sleep.. How can it be fixed? (There are no vibrations or anything that would cause the mouse to wake up the computer)

Welcome to Seven Forums.

Something else to check. Rt. click computer/manage/device manager. Rt. click on any network adapters>properties>power management tab. Uncheck 'allow this device to wake the computer'. I've also had a wireless mouse cause this problem.

Something else to check. Rt. click computer/manage/device manager. Rt. click on any network adapters>properties>power management tab. Uncheck 'allow this device to wake the computer'. I've also had a wireless mouse cause this problem.

They were already unchecked..

I do have a problem with my bluetooth mouse (it's connected without a dongle - Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000), that sometimes the connection is lost, and returning after about 15 seconds (but the time varies). Perhaps that could be the reason? How can I fix that?

The mouse and keyboard also have a power management tab. If the keyboard is wireless, I would uncheck those also, if not done already.

Hello Tom,

In addition to the above, you might also check the items in the tutorial below. The STEP SIX section for the network adapter is the most common one that causes this by not having the "Allow to wake computer" power management option unchecked in Device Manager.

You might try disabling "Allow Wake Timers" in advanced power management. (power options/preferred plans/balanced/change plan settings/change advanced power settings/sleep/uncheck "Allow Wake Timers". Good luck.

Yes, long time since this thread was replied to, but I came across this thread via a google search on "my computer keeps waking up from sleep" and just incase it helps someone else also.

For some strange reason, my computer last night began waking up from sleep after about 1 minute (give or take a second or two). I timed this about 8 times, and each time was about 1 minute. I tired several things including, and nothing seemed to work, it just kept waking up. This never happened before and I did not change anything in "Power Management Option" settings.

Then I tried what "trogill" suggested and it seems to be working fine now, in that in sleep mode the computer is sleeping and not waking up after 1 minute.

I will test further, but for me this seems to have fixed the problem of the computer waking up by itself.

In addition the power features perfected in Win7 have a very stable Hibernate function you can set after a sleep period so that if you're likely not coming back to work it will save everything on the desktop from RAM to the HD and shut down. However it starts up twice as fast (Resume) with everything where it was left.

In addition I would enable Hybrid Sleep if it's not so that sleep also writes to the HD in case of a power failure.

Got a cat? No. seriously, I have 2 adults, 2 kittens and they know if they walk on the KYB the screen lights up and moves if they walk on it when it's in sleep mode.......LOL

Sorry for the resurrection

Sorry to resurrect this post. I've pulling my hair out on trying to figure out what's been pulling my computer out of sleep constantly and forever. After nearly uninstalling almost everything and using tcpmon procmon and every other sysinternals app I could find, I finally ran across this post. So I signed up solely to give credit and say thanks for the post.

I recently did install a wireless mouse and I since I went into device manager and the properties of the mouse. I unchecked allow this device to wake the computer. So far so good.

So anyway... Thanks
