While I was able to get my Windows 7 installed successfully upgrading from Vista, I cannot print most files to my HP J4580. PDF files print great but not HTML, text, or Doc files. I have successfully installed the HP J4500 series drivers via Windows 7's automatic detecting software. Any answers out there?

Hello Keith and welcome to Seven Forums!
When you try to print an html, text, or doc file, what does it do? Do you see it in the queue? How do you have the printer set up? Wireless, USB, ethernet?

Thanks,
Sarah

Go to the website and see what drivers they have available. Windows does not always supply the most up to date drivers. You may also want to go to the device manager and check to see if the driver that you have is the most current.

When at the web site, also, check for updated firmware.

Sarah:
I have connected my HP J4580 to my HP PC via it's USB connection. Again, it scans great and prints PDF files well; but, nothing else.
I removed the Windows 7 software and then attempted to install the HP J4580 software from the HP site; but, it constantly became stuck at the last minute. Nothing seemed to help it continue installing the software.

How are you coming on your problem printing to you printer with Windows 7. I have a Gateway sx2800 which I updated several weeks ago with windows 7. Since then, along with all you exact problems, I have not been able to print from my computer. The printer is fine, i used it on anothe PC (VISTA) The queue box will state "SerialNumberJob" followed by my print job. The "serialnumberjob" will then show as an error and then be deleted. I have removed all the HP software and reloaded. The computer says it recognizes the printer, but no printing. Also when I try to sync my Itouch , I get the error message "OXE8000065" HP say it is windows7 problem, but I went to Staples and bought another J4580 (marked windows7 ready) and the computer would not accept the software. ???????? Driving me nuts. Does anyone know if there is a drive in this computer that contains the original software so I can go back to the Vista which worked fine.

Sorry for not replying sooner. Truth is I gave up on the HP Printer and successfully installed a different device in its place. Had enough of HP Tech Support asking me to pay up front before they provided a fix for a problem with THEIR Software/Driver.
I'm am glad however to see that others have been more successful and hopefully able to help.
Cheers.

Sarah:
I tried installing the HP J4580 driver via the link you sent. While it installed great it still doesn't print from my Windows 7 HP PC to my HP J4580.
