Windows 7 Aero Lag (please help) [THIS IS URGENT]

[THIS IS URGENT] I have been such a fan of Vista that I switched to Windows 7 directly on 22/10/09. I was so happy with it until I realized that when I open/close windows, something like a millisecond lag is there. Just when you open, it goes smoothly till the last millisecond and then it pauses for a ms (millisecond) and goes again. Somebody explained it better: a stutter. It doesn't feel smooth as it was in Vista, and I stumbled across trillions of forums trying to solve this.
Here are my specs:

• HP Compaq Presario CQ61-105EE
• Intel Pentium Dual-Core Mobile @ 2.16 GHz
  
• IDT Sound Card
• Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family
• 2 GB DDR2 RAM
• Hard Disk Drive 250 GB
• Windows 7 Ultimate

I've got the latest/most updated drivers for my graphics card. Any solutions? THIS IS URGENT

Did you do a clean install by booting the Win7 DVD, choosing Custom install, then using Drive Options to format before install?

If you instead did an in-place Upgrade, then you imported all of the corruption of the worst OS ever into the best one. You need a clean reinstall.

You can research repeat errors in Event Viewer, click through the WEI score at Computer>Properties to use Advanced tools to Create a System Health report, study Diagnostic Logs, etc.

Run sfc /scannow to check the integrity of system files.

This may be the fade visual effects settings being enabled. Make sure that the ones in step 5 (yellow tip box) are unchecked in the tutorial below to see if that may help.

Have you also downloaded and installed the newest Windows 7 drivers for your motherboard chipset? Thi could also cause lag...

Hello guys. Thanks for the help. I have the latest drivers, and I even tried to do a clean install. Its as if while building Windows 7, they missed some frames out from the animations. But the odd thing to prove it's not my laptop, the minimize and maximize animations work as smooth as silk. And all my games work perfectly, and I don't realize any other errors. It even repaired my Microsoft Office's error of an exe not found. But the stutter is really crappy and it takes my attention. Please, pals, try to help!

Well, its really really strange. But I accidentally opened the Magnifier program, and once I closed it, the close stutter seems to be partially gone, but the opening stutters are still there. This proves it's not me, but Windows has a bug. Hope to hear from you guys, and Happy New Year.

My XP laptop seems to lag sometimes, like when closing a window, you can watch it close from the top down. It is an older, slower machine so the effect my be more pronounced than what you are seeing, but I have almost decided (not completely) it is being caused by an anti-virus program.

Three hundred milliseconds pass every time you blink; it's difficult to see that it's a problem and even more difficult to see that it's an "urgent" one. Sorry to be so negative but I think you are misinterpreting an Aero interface feature (non-linear temporal animation of a window close) as a bug.

Being that you say you have 2 HDDs I am assuming your PC is a desktop and not a laptop. If this is the case, then you can upgrade the graphics card in your machine. Radeon HD 4830 would probably do the job nicely. Integrated GPUs suck. Windows 7 has more Aero features than Vista did which may be causing this "lag" or "stutter". Also how is such minuscule sounding lag so urgent?

No, I have a laptop with a recovery partition. It also disturbs a lot. If you have Windows 7, then you can't realize it. I told you, this forum explains the problem better. It irritates me, and I really think its stupid to turn to Vista for something that small.

I have a new PC with plenty of power for general Windows7 purposes (specs as indicated at lower left), and sometimes I do notice a very slight hitch in the animation when I close a window. I don't get it when minimizing or maximizing windows, only when closing or opening one. But it's not exactly an urgent problem.. just a quirk.

[FONT=&quot]“[/FONT]I was in a computer shop and I tested Windows 7 on a notebook with Dualcore CPU, 4 GB RAM and a ATI Card with its own non-shared VRAM, so the notebook was not slow. The result: The opening/close lag is there. And it's exactly the same as on my desktop PC at home, the opening stutter was always there, the close lag was nearly always there. Rarely, the close lag seems to be skipped, because the close animation was "too" fast.

I think, everybody will see the Aero lag with the slow motion trick. I see no Aero lag in slow motion besides the open/close lag. I see consequentially no Aero lag in real time, but the open/close lag. And I think that when you see the Aero lag in slow motion, the lag is normally there in real time. So this proves its not me/my eyes. Have a look at this forum (which I took this post from):Aero Lag when opening and closing windows in Windows 7.
See? Its Windows 7! And its foolish to turn to Vista for some reasons like this... Even though some people switched to Vista on seeing this.

Have you tried clean reinstalling? I read that Technet thread and it seemed to work for some.

Obviously MS is working on it now as it is the longest and most demanding thread I've ever read at Technet.

The mod retitled it to catch more Google hits so they're trying to build their data base on the bug.

The simplest workaround, if there is indeed a problem , is to turn off window animation when minimizing and maximizing:

Control Panel > System and Security > System > Check the Windows Experience Index > Adjust visual effects > Visual Effects, then make sure the box for "Animate windows when minimizing and maximizing" is unchecked.

Nope. I used to like Vista animations so much that I bought Windows 7 Ultimate once it was released. I actually thought they will improve the animations. But turning of the animations is not my solution. Anyway, thanks for all your help.

right click my computer on the start menu and click properties
then click (on the left side)Advanced system settings then go to the Advanced (tab)
Click settings on performance then click adjust for best performance
