A Chalenge to PC wiz Guys

This is the scenario:

I ruin my win 7 system(running Ashampo Magic Defrag, "magic destroyer") in my Vaio Laptop dual core, 2 gig, etc, since is almost full in the hard drive, and the system restore simple and advanced is not fixing anything buy the way it reports that nothing is wrong but the computer keeps going to the system set up

I wanted to instal over the system like you do in XO, but isnot posible since theres no option for that only for repair or new instal, I do not hace enough space for a new insataltion and awanted to keep my system the way it is.

THE SITUATION IS THIS

1 The laptop only boots form a windows 7 install cd, tha means taht can boot from media
2 The computer wont boot from another bootable cd's like herins diagnostics or XP mini to be able to move files in the system, all this CD's work fine in another computer but the Vaio only boots from the win 7 DVD install

3 I already run the bootrecord manually fix in dos, I already run the system scan in dos and nothing is fixed, I need to boot from one of the other Bootable CD's but the Vaio is not doing it

THE CHALENGE:, how can I boot my Vaio from another bootable CD instead of the Win 7 System instal?

What is going on, for me is not logic tha any other computer that I try can boot form the cd's but not the vaio, and that the vaio boots from the win 7 isntal, ( I also put the system restore bootable files in a USB and nothig)

Am I Going Crazy or nuts?:devil::huh:

Welcome and I will try and figure out what you said the problem is....
What do you want?
1.Do you want to install Win7 fresh on your laptop and clear out everything?
2. What Windows do you presently have on the laptop?
3. You say your laptop HD is full and you are unable to install Win7?
4. Do you have a retail DVD of Win7 upgrade or Full Install?


Hopefully you can clearly answer these questions so we can get a better idea what your problem is and we can help.

I want to keep my system, need to run diagnostins from herins cd, ans try to repair my actual win 7 or at least be able to boot with it to move my files and do a fresh instal, but is not what I want this since I have a lot of settings and my ghot image got corrupted so reinsatll everything is a day worth, that is why I need the computer to boot form the cd that i want not only from the win 7 insatal DVD

Thanks but I will have to pass this on to someone else. I have no idea how to boot my computer OS each time from a DVD.
Anyone else have any thoughts?

I've read that 3 times and still none the wiser as to what he wants.

Backup your system and do a clean install, as you've stated you've "ruined" it, and would guess you've ruined it some more trying to fix it.

do i understand that you want to do a repair to your laptop but cant get it to boot from hiren's boot cd? what you can do is a repair install using your win 7 dvd, it will only overwrite the bad files, it will not put on a new installation, hope that helps, have a look in the tutorials section of the forum for repair install

I believe he wants to boot from a cd , or maybe several cd's.

His machine will not boot cd's - it only boots dvd's.

yes i think you're right SIW2 now ive re-read it i understand it a little more the op says that he want to do a repair install like he was able to do in XP but cant because the lappy cant read cd's

I could be wrong - but I think he is saying he would do a repair install- but it can't be done by booting the 7 dvd - like you could with XP.

So, he wants to try various repair tools he has on cd's , or maybe copy off data.

He can't because the cd's won't boot. Only the 7 dvd boots.

Sounds like there is something wrong with the laser that reads cd's.

I suggested on the other thread he burn his repair tools to dvd instead - see if that boots.

As far as I can tell, it was ignored.

If he followed the tutorial, USB Windows 7 Installation Key Drive - Create only substituting his Hirens Boot CD for the Windows 7 disc in step 5... that should work, shouldn't it?

On the other thread - he can't boot from usb - at least I think that's what he said . Maybe his pc doesn't have that capability.

NO I WOULD LIKE TO KEEP MY SYSTEM AND THAT IS WHY i NEED TO BE ABLE TO BOOT FROMA CD WITH DIAGNOSTIC SOFTWARE, AND IF I CAN REPAIR IT, MOVE MY IMPORTANT FILES TO A EXTERNAL DISK OR OVER A NETWORK AND THEN INTSALL THE NEW SYSTEM, THE SYSTEM THAT I HAVE NOW IS WIN 7

YES , NORMALY IS NOT LIKE THAT BUT IN DECVEMBER WE HAVE A LOT OF WORK AND I WAS NEGLIGET SAVING STUFF ON DVD, I DO VIDEO
4. Do you have a retail DVD of Win7 upgrade or Full Install?
I HAVE A FUUL RETAIL COPY OF WIN 7


ALSO I ALREDY TRY TO REPAIR THE SYSTEM WIN SYSTEM REPAIR BASIC AND ADVANCED FORM THE WIN 7 INSTAL DVD BUT REPORTS THAT NOTHING IS WORNG AND THE COPUTER KEEPS RETURNING TO THE REPAIR SCREEN INSTEAD OF BOOTING TO WINDOWS, IT IS ODD

So basically whenever you reboot your computer it immediately goes to System Recovery which is unable to repair, so you are trying to boot from a cd that has diagnostics software?
That happened to me; ended up doing a reinstall which you wish to avoid.
I'm guessing follow one of these guides
this one to be precise

Have you tried copying your Hirens boot CD and burning it to a DVD? Being as it will boot from a DVD but not your CD's, this may be worth a shot if you can't get system restore to work for you as posted above.

It sounds to me that after attempting a defrag your bootsys is corrupted or the registry is damaged!
In either case you are screwed. The boot priority can be changed via the bios. Simply access your bios and go into the storage option and change the way you want to boot from.

Have you managed to salvage your info and re-install yet?
Your Vaio probably will boot from a commercially produced, original CD. I've had the same trouble in the past with some burnt boot media, burning to DVD fixed the problem, not sure why... Can anyone else explain?

The computer wont boot from cd, but i burn the hirens cd in a dvd and was able to boot and back up files
