It seems i had this problem since i got this laptop. The computer just randomly restarts. sometimes it reports a blue screen error; sometimes it just totally freezes; most of the time it will auto reboots without showing the physic memory dump screen and then report as " the computer have recovered from an unexpected shutting down".
first, i thought it was the anti-virus tools problem, so i uninstalled norton and installed Kaspersky, it didn't work well. these problems still happens now and then. :cry:

After looking up in the forum, i found some helpful resources. someone says it might be connected with my hard drive partition, or a matter of the name of these drivers. i did the partition using the windows 7 default partition tool, not really sure if it is the issue;
Someone mentions the CPU overclock issue, not sure what it is. but i did do some optimization. I bought this notebook a month ago, so its quite new.
As i heard most of this problem occurs under a windows 7 64 bits system, does is matter?

, i could not stand this anymore, as a college, i couldn't imagine everything that i just work on has lost without saving. Please help me!!~

WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR is a STOP 0x124 error. It is a hardware error - usually caused by failing hardware or incompatible hardware/programs/drivers.

So, as it's a laptop, you can't have installed much of anything in the way of hardware (if you did, please tell us).
So, it's gotta be either failing hardware or an incompatible driver. What sort of optimizations did you do? What programs have you installed?

Please provide us with this information:
MSINFO32:
Please go to Start and type in "msinfo32.exe" (without the quotes) and press Enter
Save the report as an .nfo file, then zip up the .nfo file and upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.

If you're having difficulties with the format, please open an elevated (Run as administrator) Command Prompt and type "msinfo32 /nfo C:\Users\Public\Desktop\TEST.NFO" (without the quotes) and press Enter. Then navigate to the C:\Users\Public\Desktop directory to retrieve the TEST.NFO file. If you have difficulties with making this work, please post back.

i believe it is the hardware that causes the issue. Will optimization leads to hardware fall? if so, should i replace it?

I had this very same problem and am sure it is something to do with task scheduler in Windows 7

I was getting minimum 1 restart every day, sometimes 2-3. Rarely when the computer was under load, usually just dragging a window, idle etc.

I went through all the startup programmes (configuration - msinfo) and deleted anything not related to windows or antivirus ie proprietory stuff like ATI CustomerService etc. I also went through task scheduler and deleted scheduled tasks not directly related to windows, like check for programme updates (google chrome for example) You may need to do quick trawl of the web to check what does what and delete it if unecessary.

This solved my problem and no restarts for 2 weeks and counting. I wish I could tell you which one did the trick but I didn't have the patience to go through each one by one. :D
