Mobo limitations removed?

Hey, so, I'm just wondering, I have a Gigabyte GA-M61PME S2P, and it has an 8GB RAM limitation. It also says, it can only use 32 Bit operating systems. Therefore limiting it to 4GB ram, and it says, I have the common 3.25 GB of 4.00 GB ram available situation. I know I don't need the RAM upgraded, but it kills me to know I couldn't if I wanted to. Just for this, I'm considering getting my mobo switched. Is there ANY way, difficulty doesn't matter, that I can revlieve these limitations? Thanks alot in advance guys!

I have never heard of a modern board being limited to 32-bit only...

Have you tried to run an x64 OS installer to see if it just works? Can you link us to where you read that it is 32-bit only?

One of my computer techie guys, said that it doesn't even bother to use the other 4GB if 8GB is installed, so I'm not too clear on what they're saying on the webpage. I've heard alot of different things about this mobo, and I dont know whats what anymore.

I cannot find anything regarding this board starting its 32-bit only.
It may be his processor is 32 bit only. But most am2 cpu's are 64 bit....

This is just referring to if you run a 32 bit os.
It is not stating you are limited to a 32 bit os.

that is the way the ram is licenced to be used on x86 (32bit) systems you will be able to use the full 8GB under the 64bit system ,what cpu do you have? just read your system specs you have a 64bit cpu so i would suggest you try the 64bit version of win 7

windows 7 32 bit will actually address the full 4Gb of memory but will only report approx 3.75GB

Oh, okay, jeez, that cleared up alot. Thanks alot guys, so one last question, if I have 64 bit Os, will I see the full amount of RAM? I'm gonna try anf find myself a 64 bit version of windows, and see how that goes anyways.

No afraid not. You are migrating from a 32 bit OS to a 64 bit os so you will need to perform a clean installation. So back up those files before you begin.

Were did you obtain your copy of 7?
If you legally purchased it.... You should be able to contact MS and pay for a media disk

Your specs say its custom built. Did you build it?

I had it customized before I bought it. I usually build my own, from older computers, but this one, I'm probably going to switch alot of stuff around anyways, to make it more "Mine"

You may be able to contact them,
But when you customized you should have been given to option for 64 bit.

Yeah, well I might do that. But, I was wondering, I have the boot files for win7 64 bit, but I only have 20 700MB CD-RWs, would I be able to use those somehow? Like, burn files to one, and others to another, and boot them sequencially?

I don't think that is going to work. Win7 is about 3.2GB, so you'll need a DVD. Back up your files, make a new partition for windows, and install into that.

To the best of my knowledge, that will not work, you have to use dvds.
If ms had intended for you to be able to do that they would have released a cd version on the install files....
