MS Security Essentials vs AVG

Have any of you tried this MS Security Essentials??? I've been using AVG for years and never had a problem.
A friend suggested using it instead.

I and many other users on this forums use MSE, and we all agree it is a very good A\V. I have seen way to many problems with AVG to recommend it to others; I had a memory leak myself.

I recommend MSE because it is fast, lightweight, and does not slow down boot times much.

Your friend gave you some good advice.

There are the obvious reasons that it's fast, lightweight and simple to use. However, personally what I like most about MSE is that it feels like a part of Windows 7. Other third-party AV's don't integrate so well with Windows.

Had to work on my daughters PC because my ex was using it and got some kind of trogan phoney enterprise suite virus collection onto it, nice. Avira would not install, Avast would not install, AVG failed, MSE not only installed but cleaned the system and the portable drive. That's all the comparison I need.
One thing that does puzzle me a bit is how MS can roll out MSE and not piss off other vendors by consuming their business.

Thanks for sharing. I'll bet that because the program is relatively new, hackers have not put it on their list of programs to block yet.

I have seen countless problems with AVG. Problems installing it, uninstalling it, blocking websites, false positives, memory leaks, and just about everything else.

That's why I use MSE; I have yet to see a single issue with it.

AVG was at one time a great free av option, however over the past couple of years it's really started lacking. the market for av software is pretty competitive and you will see that the leading choices change as each software option experiences it's up's and downs. i'd like to see mse continue to do well and i think it can, microsoft is able to give great programs like this away because it can recoup the cost in other areas.

if microsoft included the product with windows they would end up in anti trust court again, as a free digital download not much can be done about it. i'm sure some of the companies don't like it but what are they going to do stop developing for ms systems, highly unlikely. besides there are plenty of people that still think norton ans symantec and various other off the shelf av solutions are the only available options.
