Yes - you right click on the folder(s) on the external disk and say "Include in Library" - then it gives you choices of libraries where you can pick one.

If the drive is already mapped then you can do it from My Computer.

I don't think you need to transfer files, you just need to include that location to the library you want to add it to.
That's how I set mine up and when you open one it will tell you how many locations are included.

You cannot move or paste anything into a library. A library is a logical entity not a physical location like a folder. You can, however, include a folder into a library. This works for folders on external disks too - but not for USB sticks.

But My Music is a folder, not a library. The library is called Music (without the My). Click on the Explorer icon in your taskbar and then double click on Music under Libraries and you will see. Also inspect Properties of Music and read what it says. There is nothing you can store in a library - it is just an index. That was the point I was trying to make.

It is correct. When you add a file through a library, what you're really doing is adding the file to the folder/folders contained in that library, thus, the library grows and in this way, can be used to add files to those folders without navigating to them.

Of course you can copy to My Music - because it is a folder. But you cannot copy to Music, which is a library.

I went into my Libaries and just right click and then made a new one.

then all i had to do is right click on my new one and go to properties and i can add directors of what i wanted to include...

Libaries are not foldiers but more of "shortcuts" sorta speak.

That way they can show up in your Homegroup. You can put specific files and folders to show up in the network

Of course you can copy to My Music - because it is a folder. But you cannot copy to Music, which is a library.

You don't need to copy to Music, the end result is what matters surely.

What the OP might be asking is whether you can add a library into a library. In that case, the answer is no I think.
