Google Updater is running 24/7

have you noticed a Google directory showing up on your Porgram files directory.
Seems Google installs a Google Update Service in your computer at some point.
This service is always running.
I have diabled the service then did a little looking around in my registry.

Searched Registry and delted a few lines that related to "gupdate" as well as any link to the Program directory GoogleUpdaterService.

Just thought you'd want to know.

Don't forget to make a restore point before you start just in case.

I have the service as well, my services are probably all clogged up. I'm going to spend a bit and clean it up

It simply amazes me how much stuff people have on their startup and hard drives that they don't know about. I'm one of those guys who is always looking at any changes in my program files directory and startups. Right now all I have in my startup is my MS Security Essentials and my computer starts up from adead stop to Win7 full screen in about 42 seconds. I like it like that.

What does yours look like? Probably 15-20 items.
99.9% of these items do not need to be loaded on bootup and saves gobs of RAM and speed.

Eh, It's not too bad. Mouse, Wireless, Sound, MSE. Although I'm not sure what the first, highlighted Logitech Setpoint does(the KHALMNPR.exe)

I also keep an eye on my startup and processes, usually forget about services but I check it at least once every 2-3 weeks.

khalmnpr.exe is a process installed alongside Logitech mice which allows for advanced configuration and diagnostics of their range of multimedia products. This program is a non-essential process.

It isn't essential only if you don't want to use any of the extra/advanced functions of a Logitech keyboard or mouse that uses Setpoint. Disable that process and Setpoint won't run, and none of your extra function keys on a keyboard either, same goes with any mouse settings.

Ah cool, I have 8 button MX518. Disabling that may affect the remapping of the buttons. Ex, button 6, 7 , and 8 are originally set for mouse resolution up and down, and switch windows or something and I remapped them for keyboard buttons.

I'm the same way. I have MSE and my mouse driver (Intellipoint) because if I don't start my mouse driver, it will not remember my settings. Other than that, I have everything else disabled at start-up.

It's a good thing to keep an eye on.
