Kraft Buys Cadbury, the Horror!

I saw this while browsing around today, I hope this doesn't impact the quality of the Cadbury Mini-Eggs.

I wondered if they would get it...there was a rumor Hershey was gonna buy Cadbury. I was kind of hoping so because I work for Hershey. I, like you, hope Craft does it right, and doesn't ruin the Cadbury egg.

Hi all
Depends if you like "Cheesy Chocolate".

Quite frankly I HATE wrapped processed Cheese -- I always buy FRESH HUNKS of cheese.

Shame that a great philanthropic institution like Cadbury's has now fallen victim to a HORRIBLE ASSET STRIPPING organisation like Krafts who market the most miserable "Mush" passed off as "Food" on the planet.

Cadbury's were legendary in Workers benefits etc etc -- the whole estate round near Bourneville nr Birmingham in the UK was built as workers housing by Cadbury's -- very valuable real estate now I might add.

Remember also that Krafts bought out Terry's another great British Confectionary Icon -- then they ran the YORK (UK) factory down to the ground and moved production to Poland.

The same will probably happen to the Birmingham plant -- after all Krafts have incurred a HUGE DEBT to buy Cadbury's in the first place.


Who in their right mind would EVER buy or even less even THINK about eating such rubbish as Dairylea.

Incidentally why the UK doesn't have powers to protect its Iconic brands I don't know.

Imagine if this had been in France -- the Barricades would already be going up in the Streets -- Vive La Guillotine.

Or look what happened when P&O (actually no longer UK Owned) tried to buy some Ports in the USA.

Once you've sold off the Family Silver -- that's it.

I've got a feeling that even tiny Iceland will soon have a larger Manufacturing Base than the UK -- although the Banks won't have any money in them for YEARS yet.:devil:

Y'ep it's Philip Morris -- not exactly well known for their manufacture of "Healthy" and "Life Prolonging" products.

Still with Finland attempting to outlaw smoking of any kind within 5 years - I suppose they'll also ban the "new Cadbury's".

Anyone for a "Nicotine Choc".

According to Wikipedia (so exercise the usual caution ), Kraft and Philip Morris were both part of a parent company called Altria. Kraft was spun off as a separate company a few years ago, so technically Kraft has no direct association with tobacco and therefore neither does Cadbury.

Doesn't make me feel any better about the takeover though.

Just wait and see.

I'll bet that Philip Moris will be in there with new "Nicotine Chocs" to help people who are wanting to use Cigarette alternatives.

Bet It'll be a big money spinner.

Chocolate and Nicotine combination -- two of the most addictive substances known to man.

I can't complain about Chocolate however I'm a big "Choco-holic".

I'll look to getting my "Fix" from Belgium now -- great chocolate there as well. Don't go NEAR the Chocolate Museum in Brussels however -- you'll never leave.

Cheers -- but sad to see Cadbury's R.I.P.

Good thing is nearly all the land is still owned by the Cadbury's Foundation and controlled by Trust deeds -- so Krafts won't be able to sell to Greedy Property developers when the market picks up - as it will -these things always do.
