Excellent news! YouTube is basically the only reason for me to use flash and thus the only reason to keep the 32-bit browser around. For all other purposes my 64-bit Firefox works great. I guess I will no longer read news about Adobe.

Excellent! But...do addons for Firefox x86 work on Firefox x64? If so, goodbye Firefox 3.6 x86, hello Firefox 3.6 x64.

I actually didn't know there was a Firefox x64 until I read this.

EDIT: By the way, is this the website where you can download Firefox x64 from: Firefox:Download - Mozilla x86-64?

64 bit has been around for sometime, but it's not officially released by Mozilla. That is the website where you get it. ;)

Thanks TG, just watching vids now and noticed a nice difference; so is FF 3.5.7 unsupported? That's what I'm using. Thanks.

The installer keeps trying to place the files in the Program Files (x86) folder by default. I can change it to Program Files, but I find it odd that a x64 program tries to install to a x86 folder by default.

In the first post, it said only 3.6.1 is supported, but the YouTube website only says this:
Supported Browsers

Right now we support browsers that support both the tag in HTML5 and the h.264 video codec. These include:

  • Google Chrome
  • Apple Safari (version 4+)
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer with Chrome Frame installed (Get Chrome Frame)

I tried it with Minefield and it didn't work. Hopefully they expand their support for more browsers because I am sick and tired of waiting for Adobe to release a flash player for 64bit browsers.
