Lose the Icons

Is there a way to merely have text-links on the desktop and do away with all the
icons? I'm a web designer and it takes me forever to find software while wading through a screen full of icons with text. I'd rather just have text links that I have organized in some way by their logical inter-relationships. Is that possible in Windows 7?

Welcome!

I do not believe that is possible, unfortunately. :( You can change the icon size, however. The easiest way to do that is hold down CTRL while scrolling with the mouse wheel.

The Windows 7 search is also very helpful now; you may be able to find things much quicker than you could in earlier versions of Windows.

Change the program image / logo to a transparent .ico? You would have to do each program manually, but it could get you close to the desired effect.

If it's for shortcuts, no need for an additional icon. imageres.dll already has one. I think it's about the fourth icon from the left
