Laptop doesn't turn on/charge anymore

You're right, we can't predict anything really, same goes for the car, I'll check the reviews on some laptops. Thanks for the advices.

Being said, I bet the laptop is dead. A friend of mine tried to look for it, without sucess neither. Too bad I only had 1 year guarantee which expired a few months ago :(. By the way any tips what I could do with that laptop? Sell some parts separately?

I don't know where in the world you are but does your country not have a Sales Of Goods Act? You would be entitled to a replacement laptop under SOGA as it is reasonable to expect a laptop to work for more than a year, even when it is outside the manufacturer's warranty period of one year.

The first investment you should make when dealing with using any electronic equipment of value is in a surge protector. It doesn't take much of a power spike to fry every electronic device in your home. This could have been just a hardware failure, but it's better to just be on the safe side. Very few if any warranties cover damages due to power surges.

i dOnt think the battery is the issue. you said you tried the adapter with out the battery. that should.work... unless the battery died as well.. but like said it could be the victom of a power surge. i was... i know you want to believe its an easy fix but have someone look at the mother board.after you find out its not a powrr issue(you would probably see some form of life since the laptop would have went nto hibenate giving you somesort of light unless it really is that drained)

Hmm, can you elaborate? SOGA?

I don't know if the issue is related to the surge protection, unless it has been affected it before. I remember last thing using the laptop, I was watching some youtube video then closed it, didn't charge it after, only noticed at night that it wouldn't open anymore.

Actually, I was using the laptop for my school, take notes and surf. I don't really need an optical drive as I already have a PC at home.
