My goal is to yes have a blazing Fast computer. It is now with this current setup but wanted to push the limit a little.

My set is:

AMD anthlon 64x2 6000 3.0 mhz processor

4GB 667 mhz RAM

200 GB HD 7400 rpm speed

Nvidia Geforce OC 9600GSO Graphics card

This is my current setup. I just purchased 8 GB 800 Mhz of Ram.

Will I see much of an improvement or did I waste my money? Thanks

That will depend on how much memory your programs are using. If you are only using 1.5GB, having an extra 6.5 is not going to help.

Your hard drive is usually the bottleneck, unless you have an SSD.

well.... can we have a link to the purchased RAM..?? :)

in general system RAM speeds play much less of a role than most think, since the introduction of vista & w7 that is.

these OS's much prefer quantity over quality, so with heavy multitasking or CAD apps you'll see a benifit with 8gb over 4gb, gaming & general day to day use will show little to no improvement :(

the only way you'll see the extra bandwidth is if you use number crunching benchmarks....

but RAM allocation & usage is only ever rising so 8gb is a sound investment for future application development IMO :)

You should find some improvement in performance.

As a quick test, reboot your system and in an http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/783-elevated-command-prompt.html enter the following command: WINSAT mem

Run this command 3 times and take an average of the results.

Make a note of the results and then repeat the test with your new RAM installed.

Question #1). What version of Windows 7 are you using? If you aren't using 64-bit...then you won't be able to access any of the extra RAM you just bought.

Question #2). When you said all of the RAM was used, did it look something like this:
TaskManager.jpg

If so, that screen shows my box only has 29MB of RAM free. However, it also has 1.8GB cached and that cached stuff can be cleared as soon as it's needed by the OS. So, while it looks like I am out of memory, I'm really not that close. I'm actually at 46% utilized as shown in the lower right corner.

It's usually rare for box performance to increase much when you get past 2GB of RAM...unless you have very specific application needs.

then the link you delivered for your mobo is the wrong one....

the link you provided shows a mobo with 4 DIMM slots, if you only have 2 slots its likely the maximum amount of ram your able to run is in fact 4gb :(
