Hi there, I had some problems previously, that went away after a fix (removing a firewall) but have since come back to haunt me. They seem to be becoming more and more frequent again, and was wondering if anyone could look over the latest dump files and see if they can find the issue. I have checked the HDD for problems, there are no bad sectors or problems. I also have verfied system file integrity several times, and it has come up with nothing. Here are the four I've had today.

unfortunately I have completed every step on there but wiping the HDD. I guess if this continues I'll have to try that.

So this is partially a "bump" but also partially a strange UPDATE.

So it seems I found a very dirty fix to this problem. When I clear the cmos, the computer starts up, (and the clock is wrong for obvious reasons) but the icons in the system tray that normally start up are completely blank, as in no icon, no nothing. It just shows blank squares, that I can't click on or right click on where normally it would show things. Once I restart after that, the computer seems to be completely fixed, and I get no bluescreens, and it's very fast. After that, however, if I shut down the computer from then on, it causes the bluescreens to return unless I clear the cmos and restart again.

What could possibly be the problem, and how is clearing cmos fixing it?

This seems to indicate, to me, that the problem is with your motherboard. Most likely the hardware on it isn't compatible with Win7 (or it could be broken). The clearing of the CMOS removes something from setup of the motherboard.

Then, with most later versions of Windows, the OS has an opportunity to communicate with the BIOS - and I suspect it's this that's causing your problem.

Solution = replace the mobo. As this is a fairly expensive proposition (and time consuming), it's advisable to assess all your other hardware to ensure that it will also be compatible. There's no sense in wasting the time and money on a new mobo if you're going to populate it with incompatible hardware. In most cases like this (at work) we find it more practical to refund the customer's money and suggest that they buy a new computer.
