Actually, Linux is the fastest I believe. Though OSX comes next mainly because of its kernal style.
Chrome is only secure now because not as many hackers have had time with it, and a lot less people use it than IE.
As for speed, I don't test, and my ISP and rig are fast enough that I would not notice the difference. I like FF, so I will stick with it.

I was referring to browsers, ie. Safari, not that OSX is the fastest OS. Though OSX likely is faster than most linux derivatives. OSX is derived from BsD and BsD is the true fastest OS. (I compile code on linux and BsD daily, BsD hands down wins in that category, maybe I'm weird, but I'm a massive fan of GCC and refuse to code on Windows with a compiler like MSVC.)
As for Chrome only being secure due to market share and how long it's been out, it's a possibility, but honestly I doubt it. Most of google's software is made very well. They have some "very" talented programmers that work for them.
