anyway to use hotkeys to switch sound output?

I have my computer hooked up to my tv and I use it with media center. Problem is if I am just sitting at my computer I just use my 3.5mm audio out jack for some desktop speakers, but if I am using my media center I put it through SPDIF out to my 7.1 receiver. Is there a way I can set a hotkey to change this so its faster/easier to change the output? Any help at all is great even if its not hotkey related. Thanks.

Well, I've never had to use this, so I wouldn't know if this was the right menu...

If it looks like this: sound.png

Then this: will do the job.

I can't set it up to switch directly between the audio devices without knowing certain information about your speakers and your card, so this is the best I can do. :D

OK thats a start, but I attached a picture of what my setup looks like... If you could edit that a little bit to make "alt+2" select "speakers / headphones" and "alt +3" select "Digital Output Device (SPDIF)" that would be fantastic. Let me know what you can come up with.

This should work for you:

Best I can do with my programming knowledge. It'll open up the sound dialog, select the audio device based on which shortcut you used, set it to default, and hit OK. Should work, but I only have one audio device, so I couldn't test it... And, it should take less than 2 seconds to switch devices.

One last thing... this may be nitpicking a bit and I apologize if it seems that way because you are obviously doing a great job, but is there a way to make it switch between these 2 outputs WITHOUT stealing the focus away from my media center? If that can be done this program would be fantastic.

Okay, try this one, I set it to send the window to the bottom as soon as it opens... I think it should work, the sound dialog didn't show up on my screen when I pressed the hotkey with WMC up.

OK it is still stealing focus... I have my setup set to run media center on my 2nd monitor (LCD TV) and when that pops up on my TV the thing that switches the sound output pops up on my monitor apparently long enough to steal focus and make it so I can not control my media center with my remote (unless i hit alt-tab). Can you think of anything else to try?

I could see if I can make it give focus to Media Center after it switches the outputs if you think that'll be good.
