Multi boot with Win 7x64 and Win2000x32

Is it possible to run Windows 2000 and Windows 7 64 Bit on the same computer?

I have some older games that I really want to start playing again and windows 7 is just to new for them. Even in compatibility mode for Win98 or 2000 they still don't work right

Is it possible to run Windows 2000 and Windows 7 64 Bit on the same computer?

What is the situation actually?
Do you have windows 7 64 bit installed, and you want to install windows 2000 along-with it as dual boot; or the reverse ?
Do you want to install them in two different partitions of the same HDD; or in two separate HDDs ?

It appears from your post that you have windows 7 64 bit already installed, and you are planning to install win 2000 beside it. If you want to install win2k in separate HDD, just detach the win7 hdd; install win2k in the another; attach win7 hdd again and install EasyBCD in win 7(link is in theog's post above); add a windows 2000 boot entry, and restart the computer. A dual booting computer will be ready then.
But if in the same hdd(another partition), install win2k in another partition may damage the windows 7 MBR, and you may not able to boot win7 then. So you are to get a http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/681-startup-repair.html to get the windows 7 boot information back alongwith a dual boot menu.

Hi, sorry for not being more specific.

I just bought a laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit and would like to install win 2000.

I have one HDD and two partitions. The secondary partition is a "repair" partition the manufacture put on which is much smaller.

I suppose the only proper way of doing this is to make another partition?

First make your OEM Recovery DVD's.

Ok back on to this now.

I decided I wanted to install windows XP, although with the issues I may try installing 2000 Pro. I followed all the write ups and I am at the point where I need to install windows. When ever I try to install XP, The setup loads up the windows installation screen and starts to load all the drivers and utilities needed for installation. When it says "Starting windows installation" after 30seconds to a minute I will get a BSOD!

This is the code it gives me.

STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF78D2524, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000,0x00000000)

I don't know what it means. Is this because its a 64 bit laptop and win xp I am installing is 32 bit? I tried it with two different versions of windows XP. Both home editions, but one has SP1 and the other is laced with SP3.

Any ideas?

Might be because bios Sata configuration is set to AHCI.

You need to load Sata drivers.
