12GB of data in my \windows\installer folder

Hello, I use Windows 7 x64 Enterprise. I've realized that my \windows\installer folder is getting bigger and bigger: 12 GB of data!!!

Can I reclaim this space? If yes, which is the correct procedure?

Have you tried running a program like "ccleaner" to see if it will remove it. I can't find that folder on my system so it may br just temp files. Make a backup and restore point before you try to remove it.

Hi Abeneventi,

Remove anything in that folder and you wont be able to uninstall, repair or update just about any application! , You have been warned.

If you want to reclaim the space used by the \windows\installer folder, uninstall some programs using the Programs and Features control panel.

It sounds like your system is caching data. This is normal and you do not have to worry about it unless for some reason your harddrive reaches a capacity of 90% or so (which it should not do).
