Just wondering if anyone is running one of these under Windows 7, as I'm about to upgrade from XP and can't find confirmation of its compatibility anywhere.

If you're running one, can you please mention what version it is too.

Thanks.

My Belkin 7001 card version has a Broadcom chip in it and it was automatically found/loaded by Windows 7 'update' 32bit

64bit? Otherwise, look for the Vista drivers to use.

Thanks for the responses. So it's not officially supported, but it does work - or at least whatever version neo101 has works. Hmm, well it's not really worth me ordering another card before installing Windows 7 if mine might well work, but it would be nice to know for sure so I'm not offline for the period it takes me to order a new card in if it doesn't.

Hi MFP,

Did you check the Windows 7 Compatibility Center? It should be able to confirm if you can use your current card, or if it is time to upgrade to a different one. :)

Cheers,

Hi Cassie - yes, I did. The message there is a rather inconclusive "Information coming soon. We are working with the device manufacturer to confirm this product’s compatibility." Not massively helpful. :)

Can you look in device manager and see if it says Broadcom driver?/belkin wireless card

If you pull your belkin 7001 and physically look at it (for your piece of mind) on the shielded 'tuner' side there is a huge black chip in middle of card - mine say's "Broadcom"

If it's the 'Broadcom' version mine worked straight off (32bit) - no worries as far as I remember.

Some Belkin 'g' 'g+125Mbps' cards have 3 or 4 revisions all using different manufacturer chipsets like Broadcom/Ralink etc.

Ralink are very good at keeping drivers up to date with all versions of Windows/linux - have a look on their website if you have Ralink chipped card as there are special Windows 7 versions on there.

I updated my card to a (Ralink chipset) Linksys/Cisco WMP600N Wireless 'n' pci card (Ebuyer-UK) £30inc post
coz I was having poor reception problems with my G+ card (over a period before Win 7 too) & couldn't be bothered waiting for Belkin free replacement hassle - so I have not used the Belkin for a couple of months.

Nope, Broadcom's not mentioned in device manager. To save the hassle and worry, to see if it performs any better, and because it only costs twenty quid, I've now added a TP-Link card to my Windows 7 and new OS drive order. Thanks for the input, everyone.
