I bought a new Gateway® SX2802-03 with Windows 7 Home Premium in December. It has 6GB of DDR2 memory, and a 1TB hard drive, whether or not that's relevant. Since first setting it up I experience unexpected shutdowns whether or not it is being used or in sleep mode. (During use, the mouse will become very slow to respond, as though it doesn't process the movement, then it shuts down and restarts.) It was happening about every 3 days, now more frequently. I got a newer back up hard drive and new driver--no difference. I also downloaded and ran Uniblue's registry fix which supposedly found and fixed problems, but not this. I switched from my old favorite keyboard to the one supplied. All that and it seems worse--happening almost every day now. When I come in the mornings it's often had an 'unexpected shutdown' while sleeping. It doesn't seem to correspond to any particular program. I use BitDefender antivirus and no gaming.

It's always BCCode 124 and almost always BCP2 FFFFFA800... Recently BCP 3 and 4 have been showing up.
Here's the latest errors. I tried to attach the zip file, too, as instructed at the start of this forum but it's 160 MB compressed (the Memory.dmp file itself is nearly 160,000 KB) Solutions?

solution to crashes??

Before trying to reinstall all my drivers I was able to find my Logs and look through them. Fortunately I kept records of every crash since January and every crash corresponds to the date of an ERROR -- Source: SideBySide Event:63 (except one that was Event:33 back on 10/10/2007 two years before I even bought it!!!)

Here are the details consistent with each error/bluescreen/restart AND the 2007 info. Apologies for the big size...I couldn't remove the spaces. I thought it was an ADOBE problem but looks like SideBySide is some adware that CAME WITH my computer! ARGH!!

Thank you! I uninstalled AdobeAir and if it's still a problem, I'll do the VisualC++ update. I ran a virus checker that's supposed to detect/delete any sidebyside spyware but it didn't find any. My guess is that you are right and the MANY people having similar problems have the same root cause in the VisualC++. Thanks again!

a year later...still the same thing

Well, my earlier efforts seemed to work for a time, but then it restarted. I've just been dealing with it. I continue to see other people have the same issue, especially if they have a large SATA drive (1TB). So, I've updated all the drivers and continue to check therm, I've intalled all the Windows updates, even added a Hotfix which is supposed to cure the BSOD after waking from sleep for 1TB machines. Also, a reminder, this is something that's been happening since before I even GOT the machine according to the error reports. Other things may or may not change but Bug Check 2 ALWAYS says FFFFFA800*****. BSOD still happens almost every day, first thing after being woken up from overnight sleep. It takes a little while as it gets slower and slllllllower, mouse loses reactivity, audio crashes, etc. I've disabled some programs like SearchIndexer.exe which seemed to be a problem and yet...

Any more ideas????
