Windows's 7 memory

I think you both are missing the same thing as well. It seems like he wants all his programs running all the time.

He does not want to uninstall or disable any service or startup item. The only option for him is more RAM.

Double the RAM to 8GB and clean install x86-64 7 - that will do it.

+1

Yeah, but that is an unreasonable way to operate. Why would one want to start all those programs. Where is the catch?

I agree. it makes no sense to me. It certainly is not an efficient way to run - energy wise, heat wise, or speed wise.

I disabled all programs and let just nod32 but still it use memory but i need those because it stops something else that i need always and those programs don't use very much ram.

First is Opera but i don't see the problem. On XP i didn't had any problems with memory or something like this and for a time i had just 2GB.
Hlds second but i like servers can't remove it.
3rd is yahoo but still no use if i remove it and i still need it always on.
Rest of them are more from local service, network service and system that it must be active if they are close some of them it will restart or something won't work good.

Even if i will reinstall the windows still a lot of memory is used maybe 1800mb it will be free always even if i process the pc but still i don't see enought.

I can increase the memory with a hdd live virtual memory?

Your system is a mess.

Why is opera picking up over 190m of memory?

You might want to close it. You can open it again...

This is a lot of stuff. Unfortunately you did not order your picture by Memory usage, so it is a little hard to compare. But there is absolutely no need to have all those programs open on your system. Here are my heavy RAM consumers. But they are a lot less than yours.

I only have a limited amout of things that start up on boot.
NIS 2010
ATI CCC
X-Fi Volume Panel (for Xifi Card)
Acronis True Image (services etc)
((Side bar if you use it))

And thats it. Everything else in my opinion is pointless to have starting with windows.
In fact, not even needed for normal operation.

Messengers, Adobe, Reader etc .. all can be launched quickly at any time after when needed.

CCleaner is a easy way to check & disable start ups.
Tools/Start uop and you can disable the useless things easily and re-activate them later as well if you choose.
(Provided you disable the start up NOT delete it)

That is strange indeed, Try the following. Install WinPatrol and go to the startup tab. Disable (not Delete) everything (including WinPatrol) except Eset. Then see whether you make progress. And don't worry if it prompts you saying that the program is currently running. Disable it anyhow.

Do you have your PF disabled?

Seems wierd to be using so much memory with nothing running except essentials.

What it boils down to is that there is some mystery process that starts all those programs. Something is certainly defunct. Did you ever try to run sfc /scannow in elevated command prompt. Maybe it can repair the bugger.
One of my suspects would also be a program that was installed by the PC manufacturer. E.g. HP installs a lot of those "helpers" that I always uninstall asap. They are nothing but a pain in the neck and often full of bugs.

CarlTR6 that with virtual memory. I had it disabled no wi enable it but still no effect.
Eset don't need so much memory

sfc /scannow

Try re enabling the pagefile and see what happens. Windows Seven is very efficient about using the pagefile.; under normal circumstances, it does use not use it very often - not at all like XP.

With regard to the pagefile, certain applications expect it to be present and can cause unpredictable memory results when it's not found.

It's worth having a pagefile even if it's 512k just so that programs "see" it as present
