So i decided to upgrade from windows XP after years and loving it but the old layout was a bit ugly. so lots of people have been saying windows 7 was great and i tried it out for a bit and decided to go upgrade. ive had it for almost 5 months and have gotten the "BSOD" 3 times so far, i can deal with it once in a while. but i LOVE windows 7 by far the best OS i have tried since windows 95, responds well and thank god they re-made the explorer.exe but i have a problem.

this month has been hell on earth for windows 7, every time i start certain games up or am on the computer for too long the screen will freeze up and crash. so i have narrowed it down to 2 items.

1: My video card, it tends to crash in 1 game only and only this game but it is my most played game so i would like to have this fixed.

2: My wifi card, every time the computer crashes the wifi card will show no LED lights when i reboot and will hang on the reboot so i will have to unplug the wifi card restart the computer then plug the card back in.

now the wifi card is not the best it tends to lose connection and shit off if bumped the wrong way but has anyone had these problems and knows how they have fixed it. at the moment i run fine with just itunes and firefox open and some chat programs and other games (Left 4 dead, combat arms, NFS, Garry's mod)

So can anyone help would getting a new WIFI card help? i do not have enough money to get a good enough video card now but i will be upgrading soon enough.

It's quite simple to test your wireless theory - pull the card out of the system - unless you mean you are gaming on online servers.

Have you installed microsoft DirectX Feb 2010 Redist upgrade yet?

I would be more inclined to upgrade the power supply. Is yours a standard one though?

Min 350watt recommended with your card, then add on all your cpu, 5 fans, various cards - must be getting up to PSU power limits!
Borrow one and test 550w min.
Don't skimp, buy a well known, good brand. Check out reviews on Newegg USA etc

Well i'm going to try both the above but the power supply should be fine for the system the fans are stock and all the parts in the system are what came from dell (When the computer was purchased it was maxed out with parts/settings) but the wifi card has had problems in the past with disconecting randomly on my old laptop and still dose but seems as if it's crashing the whole system on this computer. i don't think my games are maxing the GPU out on the video card im going to update all the drivers and see if that helps if not i will post dmps and try the DX10 feb 1st regedit also.

Also this case will not let me upgrade the power supply.

But i'm going to try this game off-line and see if it still crashes.

Alright i updated all drivers and that's not the problem.
The wifi card did not turn off and hang the computers restart this time.

Most of the crashes the screen freezes makes like a skipping CD sound and just shuts off and i have to restart it.

This time it froze skipped like a CD sound but the wifi card was fine and it gave me a BSOD, so ill give you guys the mini dump and see if it will help at all.

I have no idea how to decipher the minidump so you need to get hold of one of the forum specialists! Contact J.K. who replied to your thread above to have a look at it for you!

If you can jot down the BSOD default text esp
0x000000?? you can look it up straight away on the internet which points someway toward what caused the crash.

So what is your wifi card model + EXACT number?
Are you connected to skype/an other online services? These too are causing crashes.

Which antivirus/security/firewall prog are you using? Some of these are causing crashes and sound/graphics stuttering problems.

Trojans/virus etc cause the symptoms you are describing too!

There are only 2 mechanical pieces of hardware in a computer, not counting fans: the hard disk drive, and optical drive.

They are the only things that can make that sound.

I looked at your minidumps. One of them wouldn't load in my debugger, and another didn't tell me much.

The third pointed to your audio driver. Since you already updated your drivers, try a hard drive test.

Download the appropriate software for your hard drive: Hard Drive Diagnostics Tools and Utilities (Storage) - TACKtech Corp.

Let us know how it works out!

The sound of a skipping CD is coming from the speakers, i run itunes almost 24/7 (Music is my main love) and my sound card is perfectly fine other then in the same game that is crashing my computer it sounds as if it is lagging or a bit choppy sounding. My HDD should be fine i replaced it with the one from my past computer after wiping it a couple times to make sure all old data was gone.

If you would like i can see if i can crash my computer again 2-4 more times to get some fresh dumps and then re-upload it.

Also my wifi device is this, SAMSUNG MagicLan SWL-2300U/2350U WLAN USB Adapter Driver for Windows | Wireless Drivers

The device is about 3-6 years old, and the game i am playing is a online game.

Any suggestions?

Here is a picture of my computer and desk (Yes it is quite messy sorry.)

Well now let's remember. We have a dmp that points to a sound driver and a noise coming from the speakers.

Try uninstalling your sound card drivers, and let Windows install them on your next reboot.

Just a guess

Could it be a problem with the software (needs an update?) that connects to the servers like "gamespy" or whichever one it is that comes with that game?
Maybe it is fighting with your USB/interfering in some way causing lags - hence the weird sounds.

Well odd thing is after taking my computer desk apart and cleaning everything there was and starting up my computer and searching on google i found a setting in the game itself that causes some people on the 64bit to crash i changed the setting and it seems to have fixed it for a while but the sound problem is still going on so i have just muted all in-game sound and run itunes for some music.
