That's for sure! These are likely the pre Escrow builds right before the initial escrow to go out. Plus you have to consider builds seeing different numbers simply due to corrections, improvements coming being submitted from different sources accounting for the 40mb discrepancy seen between the 7068 and 7077 x86 downloads noticed.

The 7068 was 2.54gb to the 7077's 2.35gb when compared. Have a look.

i'm running 7000 32bit. i only have 2gb ram. is there any reason to install 64bit when RC1 comes out? i've been considering 'upgrading' but i don't think there will be any immediate benefits. i don't plan on getting more ram any time soon...

Looking at your specs, I would say that you could get some benefit from upgrading to the RC x64 build when it comes out. If you have a slow hard drive, then you might see some "thrashing" of storage as it pages out and in active program blocks. But overall memory management improvements should give a slightly better performance. You can thing add some more RAM later to get it more snappy without as much thrashing.

i would get an extra gb of ram... (it does make a difference..)
before trying a x64 build...
for me since i got a 4gb of Ram (actually 3.25 but Ati inflates the it to 1.977 gb) so no more 32 bit for me...

You'll find enough out there running Vista 64 with 2gb installed. The main difference between the two kernels is seeing the 64bit process more information through the active ram while the 32bit sends more through the paging file on the drive.

You see a faster response time for loading programs as well as other things to some degree. The advice even given by MS at this time is to first see if all of your hardwares see 64bit support. Presently I'm still trying to get online with any 64bit 7 while not the manufacturer but another site lists the cable modem as seeing Vista64 support?

I'll be looking for an alternate I guess to the one provided by the ISP here soon enough!

i never realized hardware needs to support 64 bit as well! i really don't feel like battling compatibility issues right now.

also, if 32bit apps use more paging, my hard drives will burn out in no time. while the major apps i use have 64bit versions, i play a lot of old games, and use a lot of small freeware apps that are definitley 32bit only.

as i said, i don't plan on buying more ram any time soon. and i'm more than content with the snappiness of my system while running the 7000 x32 build. my average work load uses about 40% of my 2gb ram, and i've yet to max it out.

i think i'll just stick with 32bit for now...

Presently getting online only with the 32bit builds as well as adding XP and Vista into the mix the advantage seen with having 4gb on besides looking into which TurboCad for 3d will work video capturing and editing is the thing taking advantage of the larger amount of memory.

XP with 2gb is just right while maybe a tad sluggish for Vista. But 7 overcomes that where you won't be stranded in 32bit once you find everything you need. Good grief my tuner card(32bit orientated software) see a nice picture in the 64bit 7000 build while greyed out in the 32bit 7077 just seen. That's a good one!
