AVG 9.0 great anti virus

hi all, i have been currently been testing AVG and it has been good it had not slowed down my system like i have read it caught and block most of the virus test files and some others and removed them.

big improvment since previous versions.

AVG is not what it used to be. It has a really bad detection rate and is kind of a system hog. I've had multiple bad experiences with AVG where it didn't find viruses I knew were on the system. I scanned with Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware and it found them. From then on, I switched to Avira, which has one of the highest detection rates around.

AVG Anti Virus Pro 9.0.791, paid version, used here on 2 x64-bit laptops. I have yet to see evidence to convince me to change to another product.
Daily I see that it is working successfully. It is NOT a system hog.

Why argue? ..anyway but yeah just because you have had bad experience with it doesn't mean others do, a lot of people still use it - i mean i haven't tried it for years and i'm not saying it's bad but i wont use it ...just always best for the user to choose what he wants though it's almost always these:

NOD32,
MSE, etc etc

let him choose what he likes and comfortable with

I would recommend something like MBAM Pro or SuperAntiSpyware Pro (real time monitoring) to run along side AVG. In my experience AVG doesn't handle the new generation of "scareware" (fake AV) very well. I've been getting a lot of malware cleanup calls lately and this is what I'm seeing, but in any case I wouldn't rely on one product. I'm a believer in a layered defense (note my sig).

i dont just rely on one program i use a layered sercurity method and when people said that norton was crap i used it and it was good so i think the same to AVG and the free version fails since it does not have anit-rootkit which in needed.

That's because there's quite a few good choices out there today... So we all end up with a favorite. I personally have become a NIS2010 fan and have never been satisfied with any of the free products. To each his own.

In the past few months I've moved all of my clients there and would guess that calls related to malware/viruses has been reduced 75%.

I used AVG Internet Security for a long time and was very happy with it. But when my subscription ran out and I decided to give the free side a try with MSE. I have to say I'm definitely not disappointed just using MSE, Windows Firewall, and MBAM. People are always going to have their favorites when it comes to AV programs. However, as many have stated, the best defense, is purely COMMON SENSE.

AVG 9.0
Spybot S&D 6.2
Malwarebytes
Windows defender
Microsoft sercurity Essentials
Firewall turned on
and automatic updates.

but others are using

Nod32
Microsoft Forefront
and others from above. (We have 5 Computers).

No Problems!!!!
