Hmm, 8 seconds really stands for a slow controller, but do you actually boot/reboot that often?!If I turn on AHCI, I get a nice 8 second delay during the POST while my computer initializes the controller. Thus, I leave AHCI disabled as I don't get enough gain over the course of using my computer to earn back the lost 8 seconds.
