55c temps at idle with stock fan.. is it good?

One of the fans my Cooler Master v10 broke and I'm thinking of replacing my cooling system with one of these three a Cooler Master Aquagate Max, a Corsair H50, or a Thermaltake PW880i, but at the moment I'm using the stock fan that came from intel and I'm getting temps of 50-55c at idle and around 60c at load.. and I think it's too high... did I do something wrong?

That's not terribly high, but it could be alot lower. Most techies are obsessed with cooling so they'll see temperatures as low as 25C. However, your temps wont fry any circuits as long as you have good airflow and a peak load temp of 60 isn't abnormal at all. I'd suggest the H50, it's gotten great reviews.

If you want to reduce temperatures without buying new/more fans, make sure that your cables are tucked away properly and that airflow is good in your computer. Rounded cables can help with this, as they allow more air to pass by than flat cables. You want to make sure that your hot air is leaving the computer immediately instead of being pushed across everything.

And yeah I want to choose the Corsair H50 too but I'm thinking about the price range for the three.. the cheapest of the three is the Corsair H50 so I'm thinking why is the other two cost way higher? Does it mean they're better? I don't want to buy a cheap liquid cooling system that will give me the same temps that I can get with my CM v10.
But if the Corsair H50 is cheaper and better then I'll really go for it

The H50 is a decent cooler, but is easily beaten by quite a few air coolers.

It all depends on your needs.

well if a Cooler Master V10 can top a Corsair H50 then I think I should go for Thermaltake or Aquagate then right?

dont worry about your idle temps , its only load temps you need worry about , that said a rise of only 5 degrees when loading up the cpu leads me to beleive either the temp monitor is off or your not loading up your cpu properly , what are you using to benchmark your temps?

I didnt really use a benchmark yet since I'm afraid of burning out my cpu.. so I just opened up a couple of PC Games to see how hot it will get under a bit of load.. the highest i got is around 68c during.. with temps in our country being 38c outside is it normal? or should I get additional fans for my casing and replace the (temporary) stock fan immediately?

just like to add that i have the H50 on my i7920 D0 OC @ 4.0 idle Temps are 37/39c. max i get in prime95 8hrs was 73c

had it at 4.3 for a laugh, idle temps then was high due to vtt ect. 40/43c max 78c

thats with 2 Apaches Push/Pull. @ 750RPM idle speed @ 7db + 1 side 140mm 600RPM @ 9db

Do Not Use the fan that comes with the H50 lol, it sounds like a original Xbox360! Vroooom....

so a H50 + 2 Fans + extra Screws add up.. so its not really that cheap in the end.

P.s, if you don't OC..
on Stock, 2.66Ghz my idle temps are like 26/29c with the H50.

38c ambient temp!! good grief no wonder your idle temps are so high ha ha , but as i mentioned its your load temps you need to worry about and 68 is high but well within the "safe" range , third party cooling is a must in your part of the world though

Yeah it's drought season here or "El Nino" as we call it in our country and it's really hot.. anyways what are some third party cooling you speak of so I have an idea? (is it an air conditioning system?)

(I have no idea how to OC btw.. I only know how to use softwares for realtime OC like ASUS-EPU Engine 6 which is from what I've heard.. doesnt really give good results compared to a manual OC)

well i kinda cheated. i used somone else settings, then just adjusted the Vcore and other volts & stuff. till prime was stable after 8hrs. its enuff! no need to run prime 24hrs unless you want to be soooooo sure it aint going to crash, but then something in windows might BSOD ya system lol..

I get 73c on prime.. only on 3.3GHz... due to bad room temps lol xD

i had some cpu temp issues was running around 50c at idle and over 60c when loaded. i got the cpns10x quiet and with the same o/c idle is 36c right now and have not seen it over 52c. i also did a case mod and put a fan directly under the cpu fan and run this fan at 1500 rpm for less noise i also have a fan sucking air out at 2600 rpm at the top so the air comes in at the cpu cooler then goes straight up and out the top and obviously runs petty cool. stock clock on my cpu is 3.4 and am running at 3.9. where the computer is located is around 21c all the time. you might try that cooler. but beware it is huge. it will fit in a mid tower case though.
