Best browser for Windows 7 64-bit

I downloaded and now use the Minefield releases of Firefox. It's the latest build and they are running extremely fast for me on Win7 and I've had no issues to speak of. So, maybe you can just give this a try...rather than having to move completely away from Mozilla firefox.

I have the same...very fast!

I still don't get how to download Minefield, there are all these folders and files, but I don't know which one to download

One extension is called Scrapebook which allows you to capture any web page and file it in folders of your choice that you've created right in the browser. I pay my bills online and when I want a copy of the payment confirmation to save it's just a couple of clicks and I have it filed for my reference. I'm going to take a look a Opera.

Opera doesn't use an extension of this sort. You simply go to File>Save As and name the file as you choose and save it to the location that you want, and it has an .mht file extension. By clicking on that file, it will open and display that page in Opera.

Opera uses [the useless] widget system. It can run userscripts, however, from Userscripts.org: Power-ups for your browser, which are meant to be used with Firefox (with Greasemonkey) and Chrome.

Scroll down to Firefox, select which version you want, then find the file that ends in installer.exe and get that one.

I tried Opera a year or two ago, found the interface confusing....not enough help and explanation then. I'm going to download and take a look at the newest version though.

I have tried the latest Opera twice and each time it hard-locked when using Flash Player. Nice GUI, but a GUI does not a browser make.

Today i reinstalled a fresh copy of W7 64 but now i cannot download google chrome !
My network internet connection is okay (i reset it to be sure). I do can download chrome from my wife's W7 laptop.
I reinstalled W7 a second time but still IE8 32 does not want to download chrome

please help

Which version are you attempting to downlaod? The one from Google Chrome - Get a fast new browser. For PC, Mac, and Linux or a developer/beta version?

just the regular one ..
I get past the accept and install but then it stalls on the download, that is i do not get the download progress window.
The IE8 page indicates 'done' in the bottom left corner.

i am clueless why.
btw igoogle.com is very slow with poor fonts etc as well

very strange as i have a clean install

Sounds odd. Check your network settings. Try opening Command Prompt as admin and type:

ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew

See if that helps any.

next i reset my home plug system and reset my internet modem to factory defaults
but alas
so it must be something on my PC that prevents me from downloading chrome
script error maybe ?
had this before on another PC but do not remember how to reset.

Yep, I've heard of this problem before, but I didn't know how to fix it . I had tried to help my friends install Chrome a few months earlier in IE8 but it would always stop in the middle. Try downloading it from a different web browser.

Sorry for the delay in response.

Have you tried downloading Firefox and downloading Google Chrome through that? Not really something I'd want to do but its something that might work if its just IE thats causing this.

If that doesn't work it could also be your DNS, do you use a custom DNS like OpenDNS or Google's DNS? I know with those I couldn't download some programs properly.
