Group Policy Editor or Local Security Policy

Will either of these allow me to restrict drive access to a single user only? I've tried to restrict drive access with Group Policy Editor but it applies the restriction globally--even to me the administrator.

Could anyone let me know if this is possible and how to do it?

I take it that you want to restrict access to this drive to everyone but yourself. Which drive are you referring to, is it locally connected or via a network?

Well, not to everyone, but to only one user -- 3 user accounts on this pc.

What I specifically want to do is to restrict all drives to this one user but leave access as is to myself and the other user. My previous attemp, and only other attemp for that matter, using Group Policy Editor restricted drive access to every user--including me, the Administrator. Is Group Policy Editor flexible enough to allow restriction of one user only? Admittedly, I have not delved into the Local Security Policy applet, but wanted to know if the Local Security Policy had a way to do what I am looking for.

Could you create groups [drive c-d, drive c, drive-all] and make users members of a group? Then, assign read/write permissions by group?

Go to properties window of the concerned drive -> Security tab -> Remove the complete list from "Group or user names".

Then, add your name (Admin) and give full control from the checkbox below. Similarly, add other users you want to give access to and adjust their rights as desired.

Doesn't SYSTEM need to be there? assuming it's your boot/OS drive.

I didn't have to remove the list, rather, I just added the user account and denied access. Just finished testing it out.

Must be getting lazy...
