Hello everyone,

Please! help me with this annoying Win7 glitch!

Every time I delete/rename/move a file...the changes are not reflected in the folder until I right click "refresh".

Is there a microsoft approved fix for this?

I have used "data lifeguard diagnostic" from western digital and it says my HD passes ok. I have googled the refresh problem and other people have reported it.

Hi Firehawkocean,

Could you tell us more precisely what the problem is. i mean, what exactly are you doing in order to see this problem. I am asking since from what you reported in your original post I am unable to reproduce the problem.

So, are you saying that if you open an explorer window, right-click on a file and click "delete" you will not see the file disappear until you click refresh button? That certainly does not happen on my system.

This issue affects XP as well, when using tortoise SVN for example, I have to his refresh nearly every time to see the changes made to the files :(

Though maybe for some reason on certain 7 machines it's worse than on others.

The folder refresh is a rather lazy low priority affair which is probably on purpose to balance the OS's use of CPU and disk. Extreme up to date information could result in Explorer being unfairly piggish on resources.

Same issue in XP - most often in media files

I've had the same issue in XP on multiple computers and multiple installs for years. Most often occurs on media folders. For me, once the error occurs, it's usually the same folder that's the culprit. Do a clean reinstall and I'm fine again...until I move my data back over. I have started to suspect there is something attached to my data not being caught by anti-virus programs that effects the system. But I have no idea how to find the culprit file without trial and error each folder and that would take a life time.

Anyone else ever come up with a solution??

Problem:
Have to manually refresh after deleting the file in Library, which is sorting by "Date Modified".
Recur:
To recur the problem: (take the【Documents】of the Library for example)
First, make sure that your files and folders in 【Documents】 are sorting by "Date Modified".
Second, make sure that your files and folders are having the amount that you have to use the scroll wheel of your mouse or use the scroll bar to view them all.
Third, make sure that your library has never done any other individual settings.
Then, we go as follows to see the problem:
Create a new file in 【Documents】. Close the 【Documents】 window. Then please Re-open 【Documents】. Here, please make sure that your 【Documents】 is still sorting by "Date Modified". Now let's delete the file you have just created. The problem comes out.

Honestly this is what I want. I HATE the autorefresh. I try to rename a whole batch of files that got butchered and I select a file, hit f2, edit, hit tab for the next file, and when I hit 'paste' to apply another edit the folder has already refreshed itself and I have to go back and hit F2 and edit the file again. Sometimes the whole name deletes itself because while I'm editing the file name, something refreshes. This is insane an Windows needs to stop autorefreshing!!!!
