General Low Performance (without gaming)

Hey all,

Well I added My computers Information with my account so I won't post again

the problem is that Aero themes slows down my computer although there is nothing

wrong with my hardware, I downloaded the Nvidia 186.81_notebook_win7_winvista_32bit_international_whql

and installed it (it enhanced speed a little but not for long after restarting couple of times it got slower and now even any video I play the video is slower than the audio

and any program I open is slow and has a periodic glitch every few seconds that you can see in the loading icon of the windows pointer

anyway I snapshot the ram, cpu and harddisk

What is this registrybooster.exe. That looks suspicious to me. Did you install any "enhancements"? If yes, get rid of them.

Registry boosters, registry defraggers, and third party tuneup and enhancement software are pure snake oil. At best they do not work and clutter up your system. At worst they can definitely screw up your system and degrade performance.

If you do uninstall Kaspersky, use the proper kaspersky removal tool. Else you may get new problems when you install MSE or whatever.

From all I have seen, MSE is about as good as Kaspersky. Not perfect, but none of the AV programs is perfect.

I removed kaspersky, installed microsoft security essentials

but nothing changed, still there is a periodic glitch or slow performance for seconds when I open any program or even the explorer
also videos in low quality are slow (in video playback but the audio is ok so they are out of sync.)
and the flash videos are very slow

My friend installed the same windows on his HP Pavillion notebook and he has no problems even with Aero themes

every thing is smooth and fast although his notebook is weaker than mine

I still suspect that there is a process that throws a monkey wrench into your system. If it was not Kaspersky, it is something else. Maybe you can explore what is different on your system as compared to your friends system. That may give you a clue.

I agree, you must have either a bad driver installed, or a background process that's using a hefty amount of resources.

If you can reboot the machine, wait three or 4 minutes then make a screen grab of the full process list in Task Manager.

Some of the nVidea graphics add-ons can be a cpu hog but not to this extent.

Might want to download the DPC latency checker, very simple tool, does not alter your system in anyway, doesn't even write to the registry.

You could also reboot the System in Seletive Startup to see if any non-microsoft application is causing the problem. Here is a document that would help you Run Selective Startup using System Configuration

first of all this dpc is a wonderful program I managed to solve half the problem i think

the pictures here is before and after I closed this Intel(R) ICH8 Family PCI Express Root Port 2 - 2841

it dropped the latency and the videos playback is normal again but not all the latency is gone

still there is a stupid process that occur rarely but it pumps the red column very high

and also it closes wireless and wired internet connections so I can't close it forever

what should I do about it?
and how can I find the other one? I tried all the devices and there are couple in the System Devices that require restarting the computer so I didn't do them yet

By all means, restart the computer, in fact, most of the time it's recommended to do that after every change... tedious, yes! But it will help isolate the problem.

My other suggestion and what helped my Desktop, make sure you're running the latest BIOS.

Also, even though the DPC docs mention "Drivers" as the main culprit, it can also be background processes that chew up resources and/or cause conflicts.
If you can, post the list of background processes running, peer to peer networks often cause problems as well as too many "junk" extras running in the background.

I use this machine for recording multitrack audio sometime between 8-12 tracks at once so I've tweaked quite a bit to reduce DPC latency.
